R CMD build now removes empty dirs
Hi, It's unfortunate that with recent revisions of R 2.13 (this appeared in revision 54640, March 2), 'R CMD build' now removes empty dirs in the package. People might have good reasons for having empty dirs in their packages. For example, in Bioconductor, we have some tools to automatically generate annotation packages and those tools are implemented in software packages that use

run prog to create policy? + our setup
Hi Is it possible to give users a different policy? If it's not possible by default, can I do it with preexec? Wasn't there an option to let a file contain the output of a program, and each time it is read, the output is piped instead of contents of a file? Because I think that would be safer, than a preexec that replaces my policy file, because when other users log in at exactly the same

Lattice graph help
Hi all I hope you might help me with some aspects of producing a graph in lattice. There are three things I have struggling with and that is: 1. to separate the horizontal box rows from each other; 2. to change the colour of the horizontal and vertical strips to white; and 3. to place the axes labels on the left y axes and on the bottom x axes. I would really appreciate some help. I have put the

ggplot2: labels and breaks order does not match and I can't use scale_fill_identity
Hi, I'm plotting a bar chart like this: ggplot() + geom_bar(data=res,aes(fill=f1,x=f2,y=y),stat="identity",position="dodge") f1 contains quite a few levels and the plot is really quite difficult to read when the order of bars on the graph and on the legend does not match. This problem has been discussed recently here:

multiphasic growth curve analysis
Greetings R Help Group, How does one effect a multiphasic logistic growth model with 4 phases (e.g. Koops 1986; Weigel, Craig, Bidwell and Bates 1992; Grossman and Koops 2003) with R. ggplo2: x_discrete labels size/direction
Hi everyone, I've got quite a few labels along the x axis and ggplot2 basically just crams them on top of each other. Is it possible to reduce the font size and/or text direction? Stretching the "windows" device window manually also helps, but I found that setting the parameters for the pdf device (where my scripts should print the data), such as paper="a4r" just results

Lattice graph strips and axes
Hi all I was wondering if it is possible to get rid of the horizontal strips and produce each barchart with a left y axes and lower x axes only. Also can you specify an exact size of graph ie 88mm wide with a font size of 'x'. library(lattice) library(latticeExtra) n=as.factor(c(1:5,1:5))

Different workgroups/networks...
Hi I'll first describe our setup: We have two different networks, one for teachers, and one for students. They are divided from each other, except for ip traffic, and it should stay that way, because students are not allowed to reach the teacher's server... (So when using samba more, I'll have to setup a better firewall I think, and/or samba rules from which IP shares may be

locks cooperating with a server side process
Good day folks, I'm using Samba 2.2.8a [1] on Slackware 9.1 with 2000/XP clients. I'm attempting to have a process by which a user drags a file using Windows Explorer into a share. On the server side, I have a unix process that polls the directory for new files and then reads them and deletes them. I'm having a problem where I can gain the lock but the process is still writing to

core dump from rsync
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- The FreeSWAN project uses rsync to keep our FTP repository up-to-date. The FTP server is at xs4all.nl, and we rsync to one of their FreeBSD boxes (xs1.xs4all.nl) over SSH. We have been experiencing core dumps from the remote rsync. Initially this was with the XS4ALL provided rsync in /usr/local/bin/rsync. Since I didn't have access to the source code for
