pie EPS BB
...f a pie-chart (Yes, I know; please don't bother to tell me! I just need to ...). I'm trying to do it with pie(), and I want to have just the plain pie-chart with no annotations. So far so good: "labels=rep(NA,...)" will do it. But I want to have it output to an EPS file with the BoundingBox *exactly* containing the pie-chart, i.e. the pie-chart boundary touches the four sides of the BoundingBox, and its centre is at the centre of the BoundingBox. This is the puzzle I have not been able to solve. Here is an example of the sort of thing I have been trying. pcts <- c(3.0,2.0,0.4,10....

eps file with embedded font
Dear list, I am trying to make eps file with embedded font. I use: postscript("ranking-exp-all.eps", horizontal=TRUE, onefile=FALSE, paper="special", height=8, width=12, family="Helvetica") # plot stuff dev.off() since R does not embed font, I then use: embedFonts(file="indegdistr.eps", outfile="indegdistrEMB.eps",

pdf device bounding box?
dear R wizards: I have a very simple suggestion/question. Would it be easy to change the pdf device so that it adds a BoundingBox around its output? (Under R 2.4.1, this seems not to be the case, because epstopdf under linux complains. Fortunately, it still works correctly.) This is not a big deal, but it would be nice if R did so, if only to help some pdf programs that are less adept at dealing with pdf files to be insert...

Trellis graphics and clipping
...; device, with the comamnd 'postscript(filename,...)', the result is even more clipped, in that parts of the histogram plots themselves get cut off, including their titles as seen in the X11 display. On the other hand (using gv's "position meter"), it seems that the internal %%BoundingBox matches the dimensions and coordinates of what SHOULD get displayed/printed, allowing plenty of "white space" round the bit of the graphic that _does_ get displayed, so that the whole thing could have been fitted in anyway. And if I go at it crudely, simply using 'dev.print()' to...

Special paper for postscript
Hi, All; When I generate a "special" paper postscript image larger than "a4" or "letter" using R, I can only see one-page portion of all image, of course. What will be the simple solution for this? Is there any way I can set the bounding box information on the image? Or any other suggestions? Thanks in advance; Tae-Hoon Chung

dev.copy2eps: position of figure on page
...corner, this is a bit awkward, because marks too close to the edge will get lost. I suggest to put the figure at the centre of the default paper size (or perhaps the papersize as set as an argument by the user). It won't matter for EPS-inclusion were on the paper the figure is, as long as the boundingbox is set correctly. I redefined dev.copy2eps in my ~/.Rprofile with the above line replaced by: oc$paper <- "default" -- Peter Kleiweg http://www.let.rug.nl/~kleiweg/ -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-devel mailing list -- Read http...

Problem with figure size when embedding fonts
Dear Colleagues: I need to make a graphic that uses the Nimbus rather than Helvetica font family so that the font can be embedded in the encapsulated postscript file. This is to satisfy a requirement from a journal for electronic submission of figures. I do the following: postscript('lowess.eps', onefile=FALSE, pointsize=18, horizontal=FALSE, family='NimbusSan')

Bounding Box in pdf files
This is probably a faq but I have not been able to find a solution. I create a pdf file in R but latex complains that it can't find the bounding box. Here is an example: > pdf(file="test.pdf", onefile=FALSE, width=8,height=8) > plot(1:10) > dev.off() X11 2 > sessionInfo() R version 2.2.1, 2005-12-20, sparc-sun-solaris2.9 attached base packages: [1]

R-beta: postscript in R and R
I am creating postscript-graphics in R. When I import them into a LATEX document it is impossible to get the caption close to the figure. I run the same program in Splus, and no problem of getting the caption just below the figure. Another thing, the ps file that S created is only 10% of the size of the file that R created. What is wrong? Are there some parameters to be set? Helgi

Problems with Postscript output
Hi, I have a problem with the Postscript mechanism of R: If I save figures in landscape format and try to insert them into a LaTeX document, I always have to swap the dimensions of the bounding box in line 9 of the Postscript file. Is there any reason why we can't simply swap left and bottom as well as right and top in line 435 of devPS.c? Thanks Arne

Windows, gsview: corrupted bbox of .e?ps graphics
...e figure. See: http://euclid.psych.yorku.ca/SCS/Private/agree-MS-buggged.eps for the example produced below. This does view OK with gv on linux, however, the usual tool I use on linux to find new, tight bbox won't work on this file: %psfixbb -l agree-MS-bugged.eps psfixbb: Probloem with new %%BoundingBox: -4 -4 616 796 What caused this was an example from vcd, that I wanted in .eps form. What I got from my usual method of Save as Postscript was not at all pleasing--- font sizes in the .ps image were way larger than what appeared on the screen. So, I added a postscript() command to the example...

extra whitespace around EPS files

For example, if I generate an output file using these commands: > R.test(output='none') where: R.test <- function(output=NULL) { if (output == 'yes') { ps.options(pointsize=10) postscript('plot.eps', paper='special', horizontal=FALSE, onefile=FALSE,
