[PATCH] Add option to Move for disabling server position sync on each notify
...nterface that makes the applications sync to
Xserver position at each move notify, also if it could be considered
important, caused - as negative point - a poor wobbly quality while
moving windows...
That's why some kinds of "forks" were made to disable this new feature
(see the "bouge" plugin), so I decided, instead of use "another" plugin
simply to patch the git move plugins to add an option that will allow
users to decide which move type should be used.
So pratically, I've looked what has been really changed in commit [1]
(the one in which David applied the...

Adding XP clients to samba domain - samba admin password prob?
Hi all,
Having a few problems setting up samba as a PDC on a small windows network
(4 xp pro clients, 2x sp1, 2x sp2).
All windows machines can access the samba shares fine, but when I try to add
a user to the domain, it prompts for a username and password, and then gives
the error;
'The following error occurred attempting to join the domain 'nicrosoft'. The
specified domain

Tidy symlinks
So, I have a directory of symlinks that I''m managing and Tidy doesn''t
seem to be doing much for me in there.
Does Tidy ignore symlinks for some reason?
If not, does anyone have the correct syntax?
Thanks,
Trevor

running and configuring puppetd as a daemon at a set time
Hello All
I gather that the number of times the daemon checks in is controlled
via runinterval (default 1800 seconds)
Further, splay (and splaylimit) sets if a pseudo random time is used
before checking in.
BUT does splay have any meaning if i can not set when the daemon
should attempt to check in? Or can i set the check-in time (i may have
just missed the option)?
cheers

Solaris /etc/user_attr file - anyone ever tried to manage this?
Hi all,
Am starting to look at managing some of the extended Solaris
authorisations starting with /etc/user_attr. Has anyone looked at this
before?
File is similar in format to a passwd file. Heres a couple of examples
from a default file:
adm::::profiles=Log Management
lp::::profiles=Printer Management
postgres::::type=role;profiles=Postgres Administration,All
Has anyone looked at this

Solaris SMF services and their dependencies...
Hi all,
I have an NFS server on our network sharing out package files for
Puppet to install to all and sundry. The clients access said NFS
server via an automounter configuration (I don''t want the packages
share mounted all the time, only when installing packages) As a
result, installation of packages depends on autofs... So I have the
following:
service { "autofs": ensure

Problem with storeconfigs
Hello all,
I have what is certainly a stupid problem on my part. I have setup puppet in a
test environment and it''s been working wonderfully. I am now in the process of
moving this to our production systems and I have rebuilt our puppetmaster
completely from scratch using the same modules/manifests, etc. from my test
system.
Unfortunately I am running into an issue with what I

Managing content of state.yaml
Hi all,
I have a tidy block set up to clean up old Puppet reports (older than
1 month). One side effect of this is that every file that is removed
gets added into the state.yaml file. On a small scale this is not a
bad thing - it keeps track of what''s been culled, etc...
On a larger scale (ie. Tidy is cleaning a lot of files with different
filenames) the state.yaml file will grow and

HTTP as a source for files
Hi all,
I''ve been looking into having Puppet deploy some larger files and I''m
noticing that it ties up puppetmasters quite a bit and can often
result in a timeout if the file is too large. Before I submit a
feature request for a http method for file sources, I would throw it
out to the group and see if anyone had any thoughts on it.
Possible benefits of a HTTP source could be

Managing core files using coreadm (Solaris + Puppet)
Hi all,
I have an interesting one - Solaris uses a lot of commands to
configure specific items. A simple
example is coreadm. In this example:
# coreadm -p "/var/core/core_%n_%f_%u_%g_%t_%p"
will set the directory and filename to dump core files (with some
expansion).
The question is - how to get this to run only if the config has
changed. I have come up with 2 options, neither of
