Quake II - a modal problem?
I am running FC2 on a Dell 600SC, latest wine version. FYI:Quake II will run on machines with only 4 MB video cards and no OpenGL. It runs fine under Windoze. Under Wine it runs the "launching demo" well but then I have no keyboard or mouse control. I must force the power off to regain control. On Windoze one would hit the escape key at this point and a menu screen appears with

Registry entry for .NET?
Hey all, I'm trying to run the HakInstaller for Neverwinter Nights (http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/other/data/1076838606000.shtml ). Unfortunately, it requires .NET 1.1 to run. I have the SuSE 9.2 Mono package (version 1.0.1; I know there's a later, but this should be OK, afaik) installed; I've loaded the module and mount reports that /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc is mounted. Hello. I've a question about license. If I developed a windows app running on wine, and this app utilizes a microsoft font (e.g., tahoma), can I distribute my windows app freely with the tahoma font without license problems? Font Question...
Looking at the documentation on using TrueType fonts in Wine at: http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-fonts-main# TTFONT-SERVER It indicates that the xfsft package is required, and gives a link to the author's page. However, looking at that page, the author indicates that xfsft is obsolete, and all it's features are integrated into the main branch of XFree86. So here's

I've searched exhaustively for a solution, but I have only found more and more people complaining about the same problem when trying to run either a game or any other software. No thread with a solution though. I found an answer from Holly Bostick explaining the reason for this problem, apparently being windows version. > The cause of this problem is most likely a combination of 2 factors: > > 1) The fact that Wine now defaults to 'emulating' Windows 2K by default, > rather than Windows 98; and > > 2) The fact t...

x-server with 2screens blanks while starting wine
Hi! I just setup my ati radeon 9500 with fglrxconfig from the ati 3.7 drivers on a 2.6 kernel. I use primary a monitor and configured the x config file to use the tv as a second monitor which uses a different driver (graphic device section) due to different resolutions. All works pretty perfect, except for wine. No matter what i start in wine, my primary monitor blanks out while the tv keeps on

256 colors (8bit) graphics not working
I am trying to get one of my kids Windows CDROM based programs to work under Linux/wine. With Google and man pages I got past some problems, but now the application starts and then exists saying that it want 256 colours to run best !! (It does the same on Win98 until you set the screen to 256 colours, then it is OK. But with Linux I thought I could find a better solution !) I have X normally

wine-20050211 on SuSE 9.2
I am trying to install wine-20050211 on my second system, which runs SuSE 9.2. After much faffing around I finally managed to download and install bison, which allowed ./config to complete. A warning at the end advised me to install xlib-devel or xfree86-devel. Googling around I found the RPM for XFree86-devel for SuSE 9.1 so I downloaded it and started to install it. Unfortunately, a

dcom98.exe fails to install.
I used the tool wine-config-sidenet from http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html which works great. I installed wine 20041201 as recommended and started wine-config-sidenet setup program and IE6 seemed to run great however, some URLs didn't work for example: www.arkia.co.il. Looking at the FAQ I noticed I should install dcom98.exe. When installing it I got windows popup stating:
