NFS dont''s start at boottime
Hallo, I''m running Xen 3 (xen-unstable tarball from 4/27) with kernel 2.6.16   and Debian Etch in all domains. Most things seem to work very well. But I have some problems with NFS in domU. The NFS-Server started at boot time but I cant''t access to the shares from a client. --> sigma:~# showmount -a xen-samba rpc mount dump: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = Connection

Automatic start with SuSe linux
Hi! I'm trying to start asterisk at boottime. Since SuSe has no rc.local like in Redhat linux, I need asterisk starting script to /etc/init.d/rc3.d -directory (I assume it is like that if i want automated asterisk startup). Do you have any experience how this is implemented in SuSe, and if you have some useful script for starting asterisk, I...

Dovecot startup at boottime fails
Hi, I am running dovecot 0.99.10.4 on SuSE 9. I installed it using apt-get from the gwdg repository. The dovecot service is configured to start at boottime in run level 3 and 5. However, it dies immediately with this error (/var/log/mail.err): dovecot: Login process died too early - shutting down Starting the service afterwords from a prompt as root with the command: /etc/init.d/dovecot start works without a glitch. Attached you can find my dove...

We couldn't drop root group privileges
...s If I understand the dovecot.conf wright, the is the user root required for running dovecot "auth_user = root". That's why I don't understand the erros message. By the way, through the installation there was the user and group dovecot created, should this user start dovecot at boottime? Or should he be used for other tasks? Regards Erik -- J. Hi Folks, I'm using CentOS 4.3 on my Desktop-Computer. I've been switched from Suse: I'm using for Internet-Connection DSL (Germany). It will be started at boottime. But how can I connect/disconnet this connection without using a GUI during the Computer is runnig . Is there a command(-line-tool)? On Suse there was a program called "cinternet" that fits for this task. An other question: I've running a server in a small Network with Suse 9.0. I...

Samba nmbd crashes with PANIC
Hi there, ive got a nasty little problem with my Samba 2.2.1, running on a lfs system with kernel 2.2.18 and glibc 2.2.2 . At boottime i first load smbd with option -D and after that nmbd -D. But immediatly after that nmbd crashes without saying a word. ZFS but how?
...is, not something i''d want to do learning new stuff isn''t something i''m getting excited about at the moment :p However, I found on the liveDVD/CD that nexentia and beleniX both don''t come in x86_64 flavors? Or does solaris autodetect and auto run in 64bit mode at boottime? Finally, I hope it''s safe to assume that once I have one of these 2/3 options up and running, I can always change right? Say I set up an opensolaris server, but decide 2 years down the line I''d want to switch to a linux (which would then hopefully support native ZFS) it would b...

laptop wireless--orinoco_cs, can it do WPA?
Hi! I'm messing about with an old Toshiba Tecra laptop. i've got wireless working well using NetworkManager and WEP. But I'm interested in finding out if it is possible to get WPA/TKIP or other WPA variants to work with that driver. According to dmesg, boottime diagnostics include: eth0: Hardware identity 0005:0004:0005:0000 eth0: Station identity 001f:0001:0008:000a eth0: firmware determined as Lucent/Agere 8.10 ... eth0 Station name "HERMES I" I've been googling a lot and most of what I see seems to indicate that there's no WPA supp...

how does hypervisor isolates DomU from Dom0
I am not clear with the working of hypervisor xen. How does an instruction executed by kernel in Ring0 of DomU gets mapped or executed by hypervisor and then is excuted in Dom0. Is this thing some where on the wiki page? -- Tapas _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

tinc 1.0pre4 released
Hello everybody, I have just released tinc 1.0pre4. Changes: - New authentication protocol (better security, and faster too). - TCPonly and IndirectData are back (but not fully tested). - Documentation revised, it's really up to date with the released package now. - tincd -K now stores public/private keys in PEM format, but keys of 1.0pre3 can still be used. - Faster and more secure
