PXEboot: can't find configfile on tftpd server
Hello,
I've got several machines which I'm trying to netboot, the setup is a
bootserver using dhcpd3 and tftpd-hpa.
When a machine boots up, it gets an ip address and downloads pxelinux.0 from
the server, then it starts searching for pxelinux.cfg/[MACADDRESS]
pxelinux.cfg/0A0000F0 and so on. On the server side I see in the syslog the
client's DHCP-request and the client download...

...%ip% environment variable is
ip=<client-ip>:<boot-server-ip>:<gw-ip>:<netmask>
Is there a way to tell ipappend to assign these to individual arguments.
Or does anyone know a good way to parse each of these to individual variables in dos.
What I want to get is
clientip=
bootserver=
gw=
netmask=
And for the MAC the format is something like
BOOTIF=00-00-00-00-00...
Anyone know how to strip out the dashes.

Polycom IP601 Question
...just get a busy signal. However, if I plug in
an old budgetone 100 with the same settings, it works just fine. Any ideas?
Also, when setting up a boot sever, the phone updates the log entries
and there is a cfg file for the mac address of the phone, but during a
reboot it cannot connect to the bootserver. Do I need to have the
sip.ld, etc, files up there for it to work properly?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Novell DHCP and Pxelinux
...really fine.
there a not problems at all.
Now we want to get it run also under novell, but we want to use
the novell dhcp, we don't need the tftpd from novell, we want to use
a tfptd on another machine (a simple micrsoft tfptd).
As we found out, novell does not support the dhcp options (67 = bootserver,
68 = bootfile), But novell has a build in functionality for
booting from images.
So we activated this option (on the dhcp) for our test subnet and
specified the bootserver ip and name the the bootfile (from our ms-tfpdd)
We have also the option 60 put to PXEClient on the dhcp.
So now, when we sta...

Configuring Polycom 501 IP phones via the console
Hi, everybody:
I have looked at the Polycom entries on www.voip-info.org, and they're
outdated and convoluted and full of errors.
All I want to do is get my Polycom 501 to register with a working
Asterisk server. I want to do the configuration locally on the phone
through the console. (The server works with an Xten X-lite softphone.)
Has anyone done this? What do I need to do?
Thanks,

RIS and PXELINUX
Hi folks,
I'm finally tired of dealing with floppy disks to control our remote installs
and thought that PXELINUX sound like a great way to go. However, I've got
multiple hurdles and I'd like some advice before I get myself dug in too
deep... We currently have Solaris Jumpstart and Windows RIS running in the
department and now we would like to intermix Linux PXELINUX booting.

pxelinux takes too long trying all the config file options
...RHEL8 and newer, modern Debian et al with systemD
For more troubleshooting, maybe add "-v" or "-vv" to your tftpd service,
see if a little more syslog verbosity shows anything.
I suspect a problem with tftpd (config?) rather than a PXELINUX issue;
are you using tftpd from your bootserver's OS, or perhaps some other
package or src?
Cheers,

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of
your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition
live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out.
The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am
quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate

Phew, what does that mean? It's their "bootx64.efi".
Running "file" on it says it's an "MS-DOS executable".
