Booth volunteers needed for Grace Hopper Conference
Hello LLVM Developers! Last year, the LLVM Foundation sponsored a booth at the Grace Hopper Conference. I had 2 amazing volunteers from the community, David Blaikie and Anna Zaks, help me spread the word about LLVM, compilers, and open source. It was a great experience and we are hoping to repeat this at the upcoming 2018 Grace Hopper conference in Houston, TX on Sept...

Pictures of the Digium booth at ISPCon 2005
Hello everyone, Even though a lot of it was a bit last minute, several of us from the commnunity made it to Baltimore to help Digium with their booth at ISPCon. It was a great time. Gregory Boehnlein, Brian Capouch, Christian Savinovich, Kristian Kielhofner (me), and John Todd (not pictured) were there (as well as others), and some pictures were taken (the up close ones of me were very unfortunate) :). I was there demoing AstLinux on th...

Drawing paths through a grid
I would like to draw a set of points that are equally spaced in a 2-D grid. Then I would like to draw lines that illustrate different directed paths through subsets of points. Imagine that the points correspond to booths in a conference center, and I want to show the various paths people took to visit the booths (using color to highlight different types of paths). An example path might be: [(1,1), (1,3), (3, 3)]. Note: I would like to also make the size of the points in the grid variable (they correspond to the s...

Negative binomial GLMMs in R
...be an interesting challenge. We contacted Professor Ripley who kindly directed us to the epilepsy data in Venables & Ripley section 10.4 (4th ed.). While V&B did not actually fit a negative binomial to these data they did refer to evidence of overdispersion in the response. Fortunately Booth et al. (2003) did attempt to fit this model with a negative binomial which gave us something to which we could compare our results. Booth et al. fitted two forms of the model a simpler one and a more complicated model. They reported some difficulty fitting the more complicated model. We found...

CentOS promotion
I've been to FOSDEM this weekend and noticed the small number of CentOS people at the booth. The Ubuntu people work with Local Community Teams to support and promote the distro. I think it would be beneficial for CentOS to setup a similar structure. At the moment it's mostly sysadmins who introduce/sneak CentOS into businesses. Local Community Teams can setup a booth at computer fai...

[LLVMdev] Suggestions for LLVM Developer's Conference 2012
...m a company or open source project that isn't using LLVM yet would be perfect. 3. Charge a small fee for the dinner. It's a great perk but doesn't seem worth diverting company sponsorship money when that can be used for better purposes, like #1 and #2. 4. Give companies space to have booths where they demo their products using LLVM, and anything else. (Industry has become such an important part of this community that we take it for granted, but in fact, it is remarkable that a compiler infrastructure coming out of a research project has been so widely adopted by companies!) There a...

Asterisk on Soekris
I thought I saw a Soekris embedded in the Digium booth photos, can you run Asterisk on one of these? How? I'd be interested in it for a back pbx, given the reliability. In fact, might want to move my home pbx to this also. Chris Mason
