question about string to boor?
Hello!
So I am handling this problem with some arrays grp1-grp7, I want to write a
loop to avoid tedious work, but I don't know how to transform string to
boor?
For example I used
i=1
paste("grp",i, sep="")
I only got "grp1" instead of grp1, which can't be manipulate using mean() or
other function.
I am not sure if I make myself clear...
THANKS!!!!

splineDesign and not-a-knot conditions
Hi,
I would like to fit an (interpolating) spline to data where the
derivatives at the endpoints of the interval are nonzero, thus the
natural spline endpoint-specification does not make sense. Books (de
Boor, etc) suggest that in this case I use not-a-knot splines.
I know what not-a-knot splines are (so if I were solving for the
coefficients directly I knew how to do this), but I don't

the meaning of the B-spline coefficients
Dear all,
I'm trying to figure out the exact meaning of the B-spline
coefficients generated by the R command bs(). After reading a
lot of things, I still have no clue...
Here's my data.

Install latest R version from apt on Lenny
...had the site and page and I had added the relevant backport but it didn't work and i keep installing R 2.7 . Don't know why; i probably missed something.

May be you should add in your mail the file :
/etc/apt/sources.list (I suppose there might be a typo, as IT addresses are long and booring, and AFAIK, correcting a typo one made is **very** difficult).
FYI binary installs are (/were) meant to make users life(s) easier, and are (/should be) therefore easier and faster: on the long term, if you go beyond "it does not work" (which makes very mysterious to find what is missin...

Usernames & Passwords
I thought I had posted this previously, but I cannot seem to find any
record of it.
I am using Samba in a mixed network (WinXP and FreeBSD 5.4). There is no
domain involved.
Using the following command, I can access a share on one of the WinXP
machines:
smbclient //SERVER/SHARE -u NAME%PASSWORD
I now find that I can also access the share using an incorrect 'NAME' or
'PASSWORD'

(no subject)
can you recommend a good manual for R that starts with a data set and gives
demonstrations on what can be done using R? I downloadedR Langauage
definition and An introduction to R but haven't found them overly useful.
I'd really like to be able to follow some tutorials using a dataset or many
datasets. The datasets I have available on R are

Help with thread Centos 6.4 won't reboot on install
Newbie here. Need help with a thread that has about 25 posts. No
replies in a few days. The thread is in software support for centos 6
and the subject of the thread is Centos 6.4 won't reboot on install.
Have had limited success in getting a login screen but once I logout, I
can't get back in again. It was mentioned in the thread that the problem
is likely in Network Configuration. I
