In Sweden, where I live, it's snowing like crazy. The Stockholm area is covered in white stuff and there's really no reason to leave the computer and get out anywhere. [LLVMdev] RFC: Are we ready to completely move away from the optionality of a DataLayout?
...tleties introduced to handle the optionality of the DataLayout. I would like to never do this again. =] We now have this attached to the Module with just a flimsy faked-up pass to keep APIs consistent. So, is there any problem with beginning down the path of: 1) Synthesizing a "default" boring DataLayout for all modules that don't specify one. 2) Changing the APIs to make it clear that this can never be missing and is always available. 3) Start ripping out all of the complexity in the compiler dealing with this. If there isn't, I'm willing to do some of the leg work here. -C...

How do I tell it which directory to use?
>From Tom: In R 2.2.0 under Windows, I want to be able to give it a filename such as "myFile.txt" without the quotes. But actually I mean: C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\My Documents\qpaper7\R Project Started 19 Dec 05\myFile.txt If I were to repeat this each time, my computer would get all bored and cranky and start to drop bits (only a joke, of course). I think I want to set

bored? Become a Icecast volunteer
Good morning everyone! As some of you may already have noticed we made quite some progress during the last few weeks. Icecast got some major updates to internal parts. Visible to the outside are the new tags <role> and <event>. Those changes lead to need of updating documentation. Something we have been working on anyway. Beside documentation also testing is a topic getting more and

Hi all, Regular and avid readers of this column will know that Don Driscoll and I have recently posted two messages requesting assistance concerning an apparent failure of "se.contrast" to produce an se for a contrast. So far, an ominous silence rings in our ears, but read on Gentle Reader, and see if even the machinations of "debug" doesn't stimulate you to respond with a

metaprogramming with lm
Hello, Say I want to make a multiple regression model with the following expression: lm(y~x1 + x2 + x3 + ... + x_n,data=mydata) It gets boring to type in the whole independent variables, in this case x_i. Is there any simple way to do the metaprogramming for this? (There are different cases where the names of the independent variables might sometimes have apparent patterns or not)

Using 'patch' (was Re: Boring but useful VP3/QT patches)

R + Linux
Dear all; I'm planning to install Linux on my computer to run R (I'm bored of W..XP). However, I haven't used Linux before and I would appreciate, if possible, suggestions/comments about what could be the best option install, say Fedora, Ubuntu or OpenSuse which to my impression are the most popular ones (at least on the R-help lists). The computer is a PC desktop with 4GB RAM and

conditional less than
I'm sure this is a total noob question, but half an hour of searching bore no fruit: How do you select a subset of a vector by negative value? If I try > hist(sp$p[sp$r>0.01]) # all is well > hist(sp$p[sp$r<-0.01]) # this obviously causes issues Also, putting -0.01 in parentheses didn't help. Thanks in advance -- b

Rails Newbie Forum?
Hi all. I''m a new convert (or at least I want to be a convert) to Rails. I''ve got the book, have read it, done bits and pieces of the demo, and tried to apply it to a rather complicated DB I''ve got here. I''ve got a ton of questions, and before I bore everyone here, is there a dedicated forum for Rails newbies to get help? Yak -- Posted via
