Mappery inquiry
Last time I tried, a few years back, Wine was not yet up to
handling Garmin's proprietary topo map software. It would install, and
sometimes even work, so long as I didn't try to connect a GPS to it. (The
ones I have are all also Garmins -- old ones wanting a serial port.)
I made a huge effort, for most of a year, with a lot of help from

Anomaly in Xapian
HI all,
I'm just testing out the capabilities of xapian and omega.
Environment - Fedora15.
Disk to be indexed - 2GB? - FAT16 filesystem. Named "New Volume"
When I add a text file to the disk, by right-clicking in Fedora and choosing
Create New - > Text File
The system creates the text file as expected. I added some content/words, however, xapian-omega will not index it:

works just fine.
But any combination of one of one kind and one of the other bollixes up
the phone--in that case one line always rings just fine, but as soon as
the ring voltage goes up on the other one, the display on the portable
says, "Error" and the unit doesn't ring. Trying to "pick up" the line
that shows the error immediately disconnects the call....

seamonkey on Centos 2.1 deletes itself!
Well, partly:
I've been "converting" a RHL 7.3 system to approximately Centos 2.1, so found
it necessary to "rpm -Va"
I was more than a little surprised at this:
[root at magpie root]# rpm -V seamonkey

"Exception: Couldn't read format template `query' (Permission denied)" - help?
HI there,
I am running Fedora 15. I run
everything as SU by default.
I am trying to get Xapian/Omega
installed and running.
I installed verion 1.26 of xapian from
here: http://xapian.org/download
I followed the example listed here:
http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/OmegaExample
I searched the archives and found a
reference with some questions from other users so I'll answer
