Syntax Question
...")[[14395]][5])=="KGEG" by specifying various station
IDs. That is, if I had a simpler structure I could formulate a
logical index which would have something along the lines of
as.numeric(st[st[1]=="KSEA"][4]) and it would return 47.62139.
Somewhere I'm getting all bollixed up with the indexing and keep getting
sytax errors. As you can see, the list is quite long (20K+) and I don't
wish to have to look up each coordinate by hand.

Mappery inquiry
...nto a good map, to scale, of the
hunting ground.
Another approach would be to install, say, XP onto a virtual
machine, and do the work there. That did work, for a while, after a
sufficiently sophisticated technoid friend installed an emulation, or
sandbox, or whatever it was. But when I once bollixed up the virtual
machine, my cyber-savvy didn't suffice to restore it.
And yes, I know there are Linux-native suites nowadays; and
Garmin is reported to've put its source code into the public domain.
Alas!, those suites all seem to require advanced degrees in CS,
cartography, or fields...

Anomaly in Xapian
HI all,
I'm just testing out the capabilities of xapian and omega.
Environment - Fedora15.
Disk to be indexed - 2GB? - FAT16 filesystem. Named "New Volume"
When I add a text file to the disk, by right-clicking in Fedora and choosing
Create New - > Text File
The system creates the text file as expected. I added some content/words, however, xapian-omega will not index it:

TDMxx weirdness with 2-line SBC portable phone
This is a really strange one, IMO.
I just bought an SBC 900Mhz two-line portable phone. My intent was to
use it with one of my TDM20 lines with asterisk, and have the other line
be a PSTN line.
But it appears as if for some reason I can't intermingle the two types
of lines. If I hook *both* lines from the TDM20 to the unit it works
just fine. If I hook *both* of my PSTN lines to the

seamonkey on Centos 2.1 deletes itself!
Well, partly:
I've been "converting" a RHL 7.3 system to approximately Centos 2.1, so found
it necessary to "rpm -Va"
I was more than a little surprised at this:
[root at magpie root]# rpm -V seamonkey

HI there,
I am running Fedora 15. I run
everything as SU by default.
I am trying to get Xapian/Omega
installed and running.
I installed verion 1.26 of xapian from
here: http://xapian.org/download
I followed the example listed here:

I searched the archives and found a
reference with some questions from other users so I'll answer
