Moving standard deviation?
Is there a simple function in R to get a moving standard deviation (i.e. for the last x samples)? My goal is to plot bollinger bands around a moving average for price data. I use kernel smoothing for the moving average. cheers and thanks! over and out -- doktora

plot portion of a line
Dear HelpeRs, Given: x <- rnorm(50) y <- rnorm(50) plot(x,y) abline(lm(x ~ y)) Is there a way to plot just a portion of the line? Say for values of x > 2.0 or x > -2.0 and x < 4.0. (Still fitting all the points.) Thank you, jab -- John Bollinger, CFA, CMT www.BollingerBands.com If you advance far enough, you arrive at the beginning.

COW and unredirect_fullscreen_windows
I'm using Compiz 0.3.2 on Gentoo with the Nvidia 9626 beta drivers. First off, I would like to state that Compiz is very, very nice. The effects are very tasteful and enhance the desktop experience instead of being distracting. Compiz itself works great, the animations are smooth and it's very nice that it now uses the Metacity themes. The only reason I'm not using Compiz full time

...rk=",") gets me close, but numbers larger than 1,000,000 project a digit beyond the right edge of the column, which I really don't understand. I gather I can get the decimal alignment from sprintf(), but I am not sure about the interaction of the two functions. Upgraded to 4.8 - forced to use winbindd - retro how to missing?
We recently upgraded a test server to samba-4.8.3.... but wonder how to reproduce the legacy behavior with winbind now forced into the picture for better or worse. We specifically do not want any of the whiz-bang capabilities of winbind, just the old familiar mapping of windows usernames to unix usernames. It seems not sufficient to omit winbind settings in smb.conf; i.e., the defaults force the

Making a system user member of a Puppet managed group
Hi All, I have a particular requirement where a Puppet managed group needs to have several members that are either local and not managed by Puppet (e.g. mysql) or they reside in LDAP. Apart from running an exec call to "groupmems", is there another way to achieve this? Thanks in advance. Gonzalo -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups

hiera - anything better than empty string?
Hi, starting to use hiera in earnest now (still on puppet 2.6 but planning an upgrade to 3.x this summer). the heirarchy looks for fqdn, then network_eth0, then ''default''. Some of our subnets don''t want to set http_proxy environment variables, the rest do. so default.json has a ''http_proxy_url'' key in it, but I want to exclude it for 10.9.8.7. Is

.Rprofile under Windoze.
I am (for my sins) having to do some work using R under Windoze. I wanted to set up a .Rprofile to control my set-up. The docs on .Rprofile say that it can/should be placed in ``the user's home directory''. ``An Introduction to R'' observes lucidly that this concept needs to be clarified under Windoze. Following the suggestions in An Introduction to R, I tried putting a
