I've previously posted to the general mail list: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2007-February/075383.html I'm guessing this would go in the HardwareList section. Otherwise a page titled 'Realtek r1000 Driver' would work. my wiki username is kirkbocek. ...with the vesa driver. Does anyone know? - The stock RedHat kernel does *not* have irda support enabled. I downloaded 2.6.13.2, enabled irda, and my motherboard's irda port is found and configured. We'll see if I can get it to work with the IR adapter in the nMediaPC case I bought. Kirk Bocek

...hat the installer identified the NIC and loaded the r8169 driver. But the driver obviously failed. After copying in Realtek's r8168-8.006.00 and manually installing it on the existing 5.1 installation, the NIC works fine. So the wiki pages need to be updated. Any ideas how to proceed? So I've built my first CentOS 7 host and am learning all the new ways of doing things. I setup and enabled ntpd but after a reboot I get: $ systemctl status ntpd ntpd.service - Network Time Service Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service; enabled) Active: inactive (dead) After issuing: $ systemctl start ntpd Ntpd runs just fine. But why isn't it loading at boot

r8169 Update
...'s a newer r8169 driver in the kernel that works with the RTL8110. RealTek's web site now carries the new r8169 instead of the r1000. The newer driver fixed a problem I was having on one host so we should probably recommend it over the older r1000. I've updated my CentOS 4 page. LVM Snapshot Create Error
Just discovered that on CentOS 4.1 when you issue the command: lvcreate -s -n temp -L2G /dev/vgname/lvname to create a snapshot, you get the error message: snapshot: Required device-mapper target(s) not detected in your kernel I've checked and recheck my spelling and tried using the device created under /dev/mapper.
