how to get your controller to close a browser popup window
While editing a record I need to have a link to create a new record in another scaffold. I''ve done this by using a popup window <%= link_to("Add new Person", "/person/new", :popup => [''window_name'', ''width=600,height=600'']) %> It all works great - but when the save is done I want to kill the popup window.

PXELinux - Can I show the hardware address?
...#39;ve had the school logo and blank background fill the screen to make it look more professional, but that means I can't see the hardware address or IP address a machine gets. Is there a way to insert the hardware address somewhere on the screen other than when PXELINUX first starts up and blurts out a pile of text? I'm thinking worst case I might be able to insert it into the boot prompt, maybe printed on the line above. Would that be easy to do? help a journalist: What do you wish the CIO understood about fighting spam?
...tant about fighting spam" has a lot of leeway. I'll be sure to stop by here (as I expect others want to participate in the conversation), but feel free to cc me with your response or send me a private message. I'm hoping for a rather fast turnaround on this article, so please blurt out your first thoughts rather than plan on writing a nice, leisurely response. If all goes well, I'd like to get this article posted in the next couple of weeks. Please be sure to let me know how to refer to you in the article; the usual format is &name, &title, &company and...

T.38 fax summary
Steve Underwood, Would you mind summarizing where/how T.38 functions, and maybe how it compares to the analog fax environment for the asterisk-users arhives? Seems to be some misunderstanding, and a lot of interest in handling faxes in various forms via asterisk. If some these approaches were summarized in one posting, a lot of us could reference it to remind us of limitations, current state,

MGCP w/8x8 DTA-310 and as5300 pstn gateway
Hello folks, I'm trying to get an 8x8 DTA-310 running mgcp to work. I get no dialtone & can't get it to ring. My mgcp.conf says: ; ; MGCP Configuration for Asterisk ; [general] port = 2427 bindaddr = 0.0.0.0 [172.16.2.25] host = 172.16.2.25 context = default line => aaln/1 And here's the interesting bits of extensions.conf: [globals] ...
