OT: reset IBM Bladecenter AMM web access
Hi all, Sorry for the OT. Does anyone can share to how to reset an IBM Bladecenter Advance Management Module web access? Recently, I've got an IBM Bladecenter chassis E 8677. There's no one in the office who knows about the IP nor the password for it. Thank you, -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 13:10:54 up 5:02, 2.6.24-18-generic

Xen console on Bladecenter remote KVM
Hello list, when using Xen on our Bladecenter with the advanced management module everything works fine, but as soon as I switch the KVM to another blade and then switch back to xen machine, vga output is unavailable (due to wrong resolution or hz frequency? But it works if I don''t switch away). The machine itself works, only vga output is gone after switching kvm away from the box.

Xen serial console on Bladecenter virtual serial port
Has anyone accessed Xen or the dom0 Linux serial console on the virtual serial port of a Bladecenter blade via Serial-over-LAN? Was able to see bios boot screen and access grub boot menu, but only the first few characters of the kernel boot sequence are shown, then nothing. Linux on PowerPC 970 (IBM BladeCenter JS20)
Hi, I'm just wondering if I can run "R" software on IBM BladeCenter JS20 PowerPC 970 based now. If it's not available, do you have any plan to port it for JS20? Both Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS3 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8/9 are available on JS20. Thanks.

LiveCD problem on IBM BladeCenter remote console ?
I've got a IBM BladeCenter with its integral TCPIP KVM and centos and stuff running on various blades, we use this mostly for software testing purposes in a small development group. i wanted to boot the liveCD so I could try and recover some files from a totally screwed up system (disk got fsck'd beyond what I feel comfortable repairing)... so I map an ISO image of the CentOS 4.4

CentOS on IBM Bladecenter HS21
Hello, I have CentOS 5.2 installed on two of the afore-mentioned blades. I've noticed that the OS started to crash lately (kernel panic) and I've been assigned the task to troubleshoot this issue. I would like to know what is the best way of recovering the kernel dump after the OS crashes. I know there are two software implementations that would enable me to do this, kexec and

debug kernel panic on CentOS 4.6/BladeCenter HS21
Hi folks Today we had a kernel panic. On the RSA-Console[0] we could only see that the process splunkd was causing the panic. We found nothing else in logs. Howto debug this panic? Howto avoid in future? regards Sven [0] http://bayimg.com/image/makbaaabh.jpg

IBM BladeCenter HS20 blades
Greetings, We have purchased an IBM BladeCenter and I am in the process of testing Linux installation on these things (boot off SAN i.e. qla2300 driver, not using internal drives). My distro of choice is Debian, however, since I'm really not interested in trying to hand compile all the drivers, I decided to try CentOS (which I'm so far very impressed with). On boot, as with the

PXE looping on localboot
I have seen posts about this problem, but have had trouble finding how/if it was resolved. I am trying to upgrade from syslinux-3.11 to syslinux-3.86 on RHEL5. On 3.86, when it performs a local boot from hard disk, it just keeps looping back into PXE boot again instead of booting from the hard disk. It will perform a system install just fine, but when it switches to localboot after the install,

what's the advantage of NetworkManager for server?
Hi: I always use network-scripts to start network at EL7. NetworkManager is not as good as network scripts under that OS. but now EL8 said that network-scripts is depreciated. I wonder if I should still use network-scripts to start network? I am afraid there will be new bugs for the network-scripts, like systemd service unit dependency. although it is solid at EL7.

USB passthrough
I was wondering if there are any plans to address USB passthrough with Xen 3. I have virtualized Windows servers running under Xen on IBM BladeCenter, and need to assign USB ports to different Windows instances. The ports have copy protection dongles installed so that a specific package can be run on each instance of Windows. We have 2 dongles and need to assign one to one instance of Windows, and

OT: systemd Poll - So Long, and Thanks for All the fish.
...d donations of hardware by individuals and companies have been in my experience the bread and butter for obtaining server-quality hardware. The typical donation will be at least one or two generations old before the non-profit gets it; my current employer is just putting in production some IBM BladeCenters with the dual-socket Opteron LS20 blades (10+ years old). Given the spiky workload, these blades are suitable for the targeted use, and the electrical requirements aren't a problem (I've done the math; it would take ten years or more to justify the purchase price of a new blade based o...

Recommendations for virt on Opteron 275 systems.
Hello, CentOS-virt list. The institution where I work has been donated some older IBM BladeCenters with IBM's LS-20 blade servers installed. These LS-20's are equipped with Opteron 275 processors (dual-core, dual-socket). In researching my virtualization options, I initially wanted to do oVirt, but after thoroughly investigating, it appears that oVirt, being based on KVM, will not...
