Final Post/Lack of support
Hi, I went to the official xiph channel on IRC (openprojects) to try once more to get some support for the *.ogm stuff we did. I think there still is and always will be the need for this extension, out of _well_ known reasons. I was in a bad mood for all the stuff which happened the last months regarding the ogg container being called ogm to indicate that this isn't meant for a music

AW: Re: Final Post/Lack of support
...create Ogg Prak, which in one way or another is nothing else but an extended right click with the mouse and using the Windows function 'Open With...' , and will lead to confusion and frustration of possible Ogg users. The fact that OggPrak was coded by a very good personal friend of mine ( BlackSun ) doesnt change my point of view here about the use of this program. Emmett's view here, that we can use whatever extension we want, is no solution either IMHO, not at all. Coders of Player software will browse the official Ogg specs when deciding about what extension to register to on Windows...

Extremely slow zpool scrub performance
Running a zpool scrub on our production pool is showing a scrub rate of about 400K/s. (When this pool was first set up we saw rates in the MB/s range during a scrub). Both zpool iostat and an iostat -Xn show lots of idle disk times, no above average service times, no abnormally high busy percentages. Load on the box is .59. 8 x 3GHz, 32GB ram, 96 spindles arranged into raidz zdevs on OI 147.

.ogg file extension for both audio and video?
Hi, If I understand things correctly them Ogg is the wrapper format that is also going to be used for Xiph's upcoming video compressor. Does that mean that the .ogg file extension will also be used for video? This could present problems regarding mapping the .ogg file extension to an application if for example I want audio to be handled by Winamp2 and video by something else.

.ogg extension and Theora

[snip] What if, at least for Windows, someone wrote a simple application which when associated with .ogg files and an .ogg file was opened simply read enough of the ogg stream to identify the type of content and then

Resizing ZFS block devices and sbdadm
sbdadm can be used with a regular ZFS file or a ZFS block device. Is there an advatage to using a ZFS block device and exporting it to comstar via sbdadm as opposed to using a file and exporting it? (e.g. performance or manageability?) Also- let''s say you have a 5G block device called pool/test You can resize it by doing: zfs set volsize=10G pool/test However if the device was already

Adjusting the volblocksize for iscsi VMFS backing stores
I posted this to the forums a little while ago but I believe the list was split at the time: Does anyone have any recommendations for changing the ZFS volblocksize when creating zfs volumes to serve as VMFS backing stores? I''ve seen several people recommend that the volblocksize be set to 64k in this situation- but without much explanation. What are the advantages and disadvantages to

Voicemail argument size limit
I'm trying to implement a voicemail distribution list using asterisk and I've hit a bump. I've got an agi script that parses voicemail.conf and generates a list of voicemail boxes to use as an argument to the voicemail() function. The problem is that the argument exceeds 256 characters (100 mailboxes * 5 characters per mailbox [& + 4 digit mailbox] = 500+ characters) and

Modify stmf_sbd_lu properties
Is it possible to modify the GUID associated with a ZFS volume imported into STMF? To clarify- I have a ZFS volume I have imported into STMF and export via iscsi. I have a number of snapshots of this volume. I need to temporarily go back to an older snapshot without removing all the more recent ones. I can delete the current sbd LU, clone the snapshot I want to test, and then bring that back in
