flac -- exhaustive model search vs. -A <*>?
what does the exhaustive model search do?
Does it try all of the functions listed under "-A" to find the 'best',
i.e. bartlett, bartlett_hann, blackman, blackman_har-
ris_4term_92db, connes, flattop, gauss(STDDEV), hamming, hann,
kaiser_bessel, nuttall, rectangle, triangle, tukey(P), welch.
Or is that something else?
I've been using the -e option for a while in my flac encoding,
but for something that sounds like it should be slo...

DSL vs X100P
I was told the X100P will have issues if installed on a line with a DSL
connection. Is there a card that will work correctly on a DSL connection?
Thanks!!

Changed IP address
I have changed the IP address of 8 windows 2003 servers that were
connected to a samba domain controller. The problem is that when one of
the machines try to resolve the netbios name of one of the other
machines it still returns the old IP address. I have tried to use the
lmhosts file to resolve the name but the system wants to use WINS over
the local files. I cannot find a way to remove

IAX Won't Pass Caller ID
Hi,
We have to servers set up in two different networks. We are able to connect
calls via IAX and they work perfectly. We do not see caller ID from clients
on either side. Our Grandstream phones say Eri and our XTen phones say
Asterisk.
We did a debug and I am pasting the output from both servers below. We tried
setCallerId in several different ways. We see the value get passed to the

Resolved: NT4 + SP3 reports can't NetServerEnum2 using Samba
...repeatedly report they can't get
the server list from the Master Browser when using a Samba WINS has
been resolved.
We found that upgrading from 1.9.17p11 to 1.9.18p4 suppressed the
problem reports and also the problems the servers had in viewing the
network neigbourhood.
Many thanks to Paul Blackman who my employer will pay for his prompt
assistance and audit of our SMB setup.
I think it's possible that readers of this list can make a real
contribution and provide a good commercial service if they can provide
prompt knowlegable and effective help for the legions of users who
want to plug...

Browse list problem sorted
Hi,
I posted a couple of times about a problem I was having with browsing,
where smbclient (and other clients) showed nothing in the browse list,
but wins.dat and browse.dat showed a list and the log showed the server
becoming the domain and local master browser.
Well, the problem turned out to be permissions on the .../samba/var and
.../samba/var/locks directories; not allowing the

new web pages
The new Samba web pages are now up and should be propogated to the
mirror sites over the next day. See http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/ for
a list of mirrors.
The design of the new pages was done by Paul Blackman, with
some modifications by me. Hopefully they will serve us well for a long
time.
I've also added some photos of Samba Team members at the CIFS98
conference so now everyone can see what a ugly bunch of hackers we
are.

Autoattendant Configuration
Hi,
At my house, I have two POTS lines. Both are connected to my * server
on a TDM400P card. As an example, say the phone numbers are
(919)555-1212 and (919)555-1213. I also have four SIP extensions, an
ATA with a fax machine, and a DID coming in from an ITSP.
I have an autoattendant configured that talks and allows users to
forward to the extension they choose, but my family doesn't like

lwn reports the Samba team could use coders and documenters
I read in todays (July 9, 1998) edition of the Linux Weekly News
that
"the Samba team could use coders, documenters and
packagers as a result of a temporary dip in the
volunteer resources available to them
(caused by an unfortunate set of co-incidences,
though we haven't heard the details yet)."
and "This has slowed the Samba effort a bit."

IAX2 REACHABLE/UNREACHABLE
All,
I have an issue with IAX that I can't comprehend. Approximately every eight
minutes my servers go unreachable. They stay unreachable for exactly 10ms.
I have two servers running IAX and it happens on both servers
simultaneously. I have searched the archives and see similar issues, but
not the exact same one. I am on the current CVS stable version of *.
Also, during IAX calls,
