Change labels of x-axes in Plot of stl() function?
Hi all, How can the label of the x-axes in the plot() of a stl.object be adapted? e.g., When plotting: plot(stl(nottem, "per")) In the labels of the x-axes is “time”. How can this be changed to e.g., “Time (dekade) “? It does not work with xlab or others anymore… Thanks, Jan _______________________________________________________________________ Ir. two-way unbalanced ANOVA
...-way ANOVA. From what I have read, the trouble with running an unbalanced two-way ANOVA, is that things get tricky when calculating the sum of squares for two factors and the interaction term. *What I am stuck on:* So far what I have done is applied my data to this helpful tutorial: http://www.biw.kuleuven.be/vakken/statisticsbyr/ANOVAbyRr/UnbalancedTwoWayANOVA.htm I found that my interaction term was insignificant, so my model was reduced to a two-factor model. But then I got stuck on the part where I use a general linear test (GLT) to determine whether I should use a two- or one- fact...

OT: DOE - experiments for teaching
Hi, I'm sorry for this not being related to R but I think this is a good place to ask. I'm looking for DOE examples(experiments) that can be done at home or in class, such as Paper Helicopter, Paper Towel etc.. I'm thankful for any comment. Thomas [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Optimization of constrained linear least-squares problem
Dear R-ians, I want to perform an linear unmixing of image pixels in fractions of pure endmembers. Therefore I need to perform a constrained linear least-squares problem that looks like : min || Cx - d || ? where sum(x) = 1. I have a 3x3 matrix C, containing the values for endmembers and I have a 3x1 column vector d (for every pixel in the image). In theory my x values should all be in the

Howto? plot legend with no line behind the points
Hi R-help, We are using R 2.2 on Win XP and have a detail question on how the legend can be optimised. We use the following; -> plot(,type="b",...) The lines in the plot do not cross the points. How can we obtain the same effect in the legend? (points without a line through them..) We tried setting the pt.bg to white but this did not help. See script below. thanks, Jan

program and comment
Hi. I am a newbie to R. I need to do a courses projects with some manipulation lots of data record and some back-and-forth linear regression. I do not want to spend $100 for a SAS lincence, which professor used. So I decide to start to learn R to finish it. I am using R in Windows. I feel it is somehow works like mathemica. I try to write the work into a little program for future reference.

diagnostic functions to assess fitted ols() model: Confidence is too narrow?!
Dear all, When fitting an "ols.model", the confidence interval at 95% doesn't cover the plotted data points because it is very narrow. Does this mean that the model is 'overfitted' or is there a specific amount of serial correlation in the residuals? Which R functions can be used to evaluate (diagnostics) major model assumptions (residuals, independence, variance) when

HOW to Create Movies with R with repeated plot()?
Dear R-helpers, Is it possible to create a type of 'movie' in R based on the output of several figures (e.g., jpegs) via the plot() function. I obtained dynamic results with the plotting function and would like to save these as a movie (e.g., avi or other formats)? Simplify iterative programming
Dear, I am looking for the simplification of a formula to improve the calculation speed of my program. Therefore I want to simplify the following formula: H = sum{i=0..n-1 , [ sum {j=0..m-1 , sqrt ( (Ai - Bj)^2 + (Ci - Dj)^2) } ] } where: A, C = two vectors (with numerical data) of length n B, D = two vectors (with numerical data) of length m sqrt = square root Ai = element of A with index

R-3.0.1 - "transient" make check failure in splines-EX.r
Hello. I seem to be having the same problem that Paul had in the thread titled "[Rd] R 2.15.2 make check failure on 32-bit --with-blas="-lgoto2"" from October of last year <https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2012-October/065103.html> Unfortunately, that thread ended without an answer to his last question. Briefly, I am trying to compile an Rblas for Windows NT 32bit

HowTo derive a correct likelihood-ratio chi-squared statistic from lrm() with a rsc() ?
Dear R helpers, >From the lrm( ) model used for binary logistic regression, we used the L.R. model value (or the G2 value, likelihood-ratio chi-squared statistic) to evaluate the goodness-of-fit of the models. The model with the lowest G2 value consequently, has the best performance and the highest accuracy. However our model includes rsc() functions to account for non-linearity. We

How to add legend of plot.Design function ( method=image)?

I tried to change par( margin setting) but this didn’t solve it. How can this be solved? Thanks a lot, Jan
