intermittent network neigborhood
...subnet. Some
can see the samba server and some cannot. All can login to the domain
fine and all can explicitly define a share like \\server\share but only
a few can BROWSE network neighborhood. Any ideas on what I should be
looking for here?

install 2.2.0 ssl troubles
...It claims that it cant find ssl.h
Here is my configure line:
./configure --prefix=/usr --with-ssl
--with-sslinc=/usr/local/ssl/include/openssl --with-smbmount
--enable-debug
I verified that ssl.h is in /usr/local/ssl/include/openssl
Any ideas?

compile problems
Hello all,
This is my first time on the list. I just dl'ed thet latest samba, 2.0.6 and
during my compile with linux
5.2 I get:
smbd/files.o: in function `file_new`:
smbd/files.o(.text+0xb8): undefined reference to `__bzero`
....
Has anyone seen something like this before? any hints would be greatly
appriciated.
If I am on the wrong list please inform me where I can get the answeres to

http://acl.bestbits.at/ on a suse linux box? I got the 2.4.5 kernel with the
appropriate patches
for access control lists compiled and working just fine, but samba won't
compile :(
I can't even get it configured --with-acl-support
any hints?

problem with permissions for smbmount
here is the command I am running:
mount -t smbfs -o uid=514,gid=515,username=backup,password=XXXXXXXX,rw
//hades/html /mnt/hades_html
I have went a step further to make sure that the username and groupname
"backup" have matching UIDs and GIDs. I cannot seem to write to the share.
I can go in as the user on the remote box and write just fine. This is
rather frustrating because I know I

windows update - possibilities
Hello,
I am a Linux guy stuck in a windows world on my network. I would like
to find a way to automagically update my windows clients. I am looking
for a similar thing to the Redhat network. I am wondering if there is
any way to use samba as the negotiator for something like this. Has
anyone else pondered this at all? I am asking here because no one knows
more about integrating windows
