Can''t create a virtual nic
...nknown
diagnostic)
When I truss the process, it looks like it''s failing when attempting to
open the vnic pseudo-device:
100878/1: open("/devices/pseudo/vnic at 0:ctl", O_RDWR) Err#2
ENOENT
100878/1: fstat64(2, 0x08046C10) = 0
When I BFU''ed the crossbow image, I ran acr to resolve conflicts. Does
anyone happen to know why this device doesn''t exist after the bfu/acr? Are
there specific files I need to edit to get things working?
Thanks,
- Ryan

I have tried to define a domain or using virt-install both failed.
Could some one give me the correct command to do this?
I used:

SNV82: Not enough memory is available, and dom0 cannot be shrunk any further

I am running nevada 79 BFU''ed to 82. The machine is a Ultra 20 with 4GB

When ever I try to start the fourth domain I get an out of memory exception:

...s the *correct* entries to modify in a liveupgrade environment.
(there''s also the issue that the ''real'' menu.lst is not always on the
currently active BE. I can''t currently work out if that''s dealt with
naturally, or not, because of the above).
When BFU''ing the xen bits into a liveupgrade BE, the bootadm-created
menu.lst entry will be updated for the new booting scheme. The
liveupgrade-created entries will not. Additionally, the bootadm-created
entries don''t stand much chance of referring to the BE BFU''d with xen

Preparing to compare Solaris/ZFS and FreeBSD/ZFS performance.
Hi.
I''m all set for doing performance comparsion between Solaris/ZFS and
FreeBSD/ZFS. I spend last few weeks on FreeBSD/ZFS optimizations and I
think I''m ready. The machine is 1xQuad-core DELL PowerEdge 1950, 2GB
RAM, 15 x 74GB-FC-10K accesses via 2x2Gbit FC links. Unfortunately the
links to disks are the bottleneck, so I''m going to use not more than 4
disks, probably.

Yep, another "hg pull", followed by a nighly recompile and bfu
fixed the problem. The box don''t need libxml2.so or libz.so in
/lib any more to mount the zfs /usr filesystem.
I had pulled fresh sources on 2006-11-17, immediatelly before the
fix for 6494840 went in ;-)

vlan is not working in snv_109?
...e VNIC (with same VLAN ID) on each of these two e1000g1
interface.
After I configure IPs on both of these two VNICs, they''re not able to
talk to each other:
vnic(vid=8,192.168.1.1)<--->e1000g1<------------->e1000g1<--->vnic(vid=8,192.168.1.2)
These two machines are both bfu''ed to snv_109-nd.
The same configuration works on these two machines before when they are
running snv_108.
Is this a known issue in 109, or I missed something?
Thanks,
Max
