2.2.2 printing.
Hello,
I am using RH 7.1 with CUPS and a printer connected to it. I also have
a windows machine running XP. I have been able to print from
windows->linux
via samba 2.0.7.
Since samba 2.0.7 does not seem to be
able to show printer queues with CUPS I tried to upgrade to 2.2.2
(using rpm's from rawhide).
I kept my smb.conf file. Initially this worked well and I could
manipulate

Updated version of patch

Thanks!
But I noticed that giving up the global interpretor lock
in a few functions allows other threads to do something stupid (like
deleting
the shout object during a write).
So for everything to be absolutely thread safe a python shout object
should contain a mutex and there should
be appropriate

Updated version of patch
Attached is a patch against shout-python-0.2 which does two trivial but
very useful things
(1) The function "get_connected" is exported so that shout-python
becomes usable
in nonblocking mode. In the current version of shout-python "open"
raises an exception in nonblocking mode.
(2) The global interpreter lock is released in the potentially blocking
functions

Unable to Install Ocfs2 in Oracle Linux 5 Machine.
Hi,
I was trying to install OCFS 2 in my Oracle Linux 5 Machine.
I created a mount point for cluster file system:
# mkdir /u02
My Kernel version is :
# uname -r
2.6.18-308.4.1.0.1.el5xen
I am downloading the appropriate version of the kernel module from this
location:
https://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2/files/RedHat/RHEL5/x86_64/1.4.10-1/2.6.18-308.4.1.el5/

Updated version of patch
>Why would you keep a non-thread safe API ?
I do not want to touch libshout. I am only concerned
with the python bindings.
Probably Brendan can answer this better but I think
libshout is not thread safe for simultaneous accesses
to a shout_t object. This is not a problem
as the posix locking primitives are trivial to use.
For python apis should in principle be absolutely
thread safe.

Problem solved? (Was: 2.2.2 printing)
Hello,
I now added the following options to my smb.conf file:
disable spoolss = 1
use client driver = 1
According to the file Whatsnew.txt in the source distribution
this revert the printing behaviour back to 2.0.
Now things seem to work (including queue manipulation).

Michel

Mail list archive thread said to use tdbbackup. What good will that do?
What should I look for in tdbbackup -v? Should I delete

VM node won't talk to host
I am trying to mount the same partition from a KVM ubuntu 8.04.1 virtual
machine and on an ubuntu 8.04.1 host server.
I am able to mount the partition just on fine on two ubuntu host servers, they
both talk to each other. The logs on both servers show the other machine
mounting and unmounting the drive.
However, when I mount the drive in the KVM VM I get no communication to the
host

Issue after upgrading to Ubuntu Server 11.10
Hi all,
After upgrading to Ubuntu Server 11.10 my mail setup stopped working.
The error message I get is:
lda: Error: userdb lookup: connect(/var/run/dovecot/auth-userdb)
failed: Permission denied (euid=5000(vmail) egid=5000(vmail) missing
+r perm: /var/run/dovecot/auth-userdb, euid is not dir owner)
Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?
Thanks,
Chris.

LUN Aggregation
Greetings.
Is there an approved way to aggregate LUNs when using OCFS2? I have several 1TB LUNs I'd
like to make into a single filesystem. Would I use something like Linux software raid?
