Hi, I'm Florent BERANGER, from Flonix ( http://www.flonix.com ). After several tests, we have found that Syslinux 3.00 pre9 is no longer compatible with USB stick booting. generate randomly a value of a vector
Hi everyone, I have a zero vector of length N and I would like to randomly allocate the value 1 to one of the values of this vector. I presume I have to use the uniform distribution but could someone tell me how I should process? Thanks in advance, Boris -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/generate-randomly-a-value-of-a-vector-tp3798190p3798190.html Sent from the R

GIMP 2.3.15 for EL5, no newer libs required
...E-2007-2949 and CVE-2007-3741. To get these builds (RPMs and SRPMs), use the repo file: http://odiecolon.lastdot.org/el5/odiecolon.repo The site is not browsable, because I can't make it so (Lucian, any help?). Still, the repo should work (it worked for me). A *few* more details here: http://beranger.org/v3/wordpress/?p=3325 Please test and report if it works for you or not -- I only use a limited set of features from what GIMP can do. Note that I have not tested any plugins, and I don't even know if xsane-gimp still works with this build. Disclaimer: You should never use this on a pro...

SSH without password on CentOS 5 ?
Hi, I'd like to use SSH without password so I can use it in scripts (for example in combination with rsync to do backups). I have Carla Schroder's "Linux Cookbook" and I'm trying out the various receipts, but the one for SSH without a password doesn't work. The book is slightly dated, and I wonder if SSH included in CentOS works differently. Any suggestions? Niki

[CentOS-announce] CentOS 5 i386 - The CentOS-5.3 i386 Live CD is released
Umm... is there any rational reason to only announce the CentOS-5.3 Live CD on May 27, when it was available since May 19, and Patrice has updated the Release Notes on the same May 19? The CD date is indeed 19-May-2009 02:50 and I've found it on May 21 on all the mirrors I've checked. I was persuaded that the only 5.3 LiveCD available was from ScientificLinux, and I've checked with

Dag's comment at linuxtag
>From http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20090629 "....Right next to the Gentoo stand was a group of young people, proudly displaying their affiliation with CentOS. Dag Wieers, the well-known maintainer of a once very popular RPM repository, greeted me with a big smile: "Do you know CentOS?" When I introduced myself, he looked somewhat disappointed: "Oh, so you know

Skew-Normal CDF using psn
Dear R-users, I have been using the code below in order to verify how the CDF of a skew-normal distribution was calculated: library(sn) s=seq(-30,30,by=0.1) a<-matrix(nrow=length(s),ncol=5) lambda=1 for(i in 1:length(s)){ a[i,1]=pnorm(s[i],mean=0,sd=1); a[i,2]=T.Owen(s[i],lambda); a[i,3]=a[i,5]-2*a[i,6]; a[i,4]=pnorm(s[i])-2*T.Owen(s[i],lambda);

Weights using Survreg
Dear R users, I have been trying to understand what the Weights arguments is doing in the estimation of the parameters when using the Surreg function. I looked through the function's code but I am not sure if I got it or not. For example, if I inclue the Surv function in it: survreg(Surv(vector, status)~1,weights=vector2,dist="Weibull") will it try to maximize the likelihood with
