"Beginner" keyword for LLVM Bugzilla?
Hello all!
I mailed the list about this yesterday, but as a reply to another
email [1], so maybe it got lost: could we add a "beginner" keyword to
LLVM Bugzilla, so that contributors could classify bugs as relatively
simple to fix?
LLVM Bugzilla has keywords like "code-cleanup" and "code-quality",
which describe the nature of the PR [2]. I think a

Anna Zaks, David Blaikie and I have been at Grace Hopper Conference for the last couple days talking to many people about LLVM and how to get involved in the project. Its been discussed many times before at LLVM Developer Meetings and recently on the mailing list about tagging bugs with the “beginner” keyword and that keyword was recently added to the LLVM Bugzilla. However, there are very few

Problems with stop word analysis and queries
I have a problem, and I think it''s because stop word analysis isn''t
happenning in the queries. I think it''s the way ferret is doing things
that''s causing this bug. Let''s say I''m searching across documents with
a title. And I have a document with a title of "Bash Guide for
Beginners". If a user types in the query:

Beginner with beginner's problem
Dear all,
I am including a part of the text from smb.log. I have followed the
instructions in "Using Samba" but to no avail. I have checked through the
troubleshooting chapter which directed me to the logs initially, but has
nothing specific to say about bad news contained therein. The output of the
log makes it clear that the problem is related to the smp_passwd file but I

Using source()
Hello,
I have never used source and I am a R beginner. If I have text file that
contains 1,000's of lines of code. Can I use source to bring this code into
R and execute the code? Does it run the code one line at a time? Is there a
best way to setup source() for maximum effieciency? After reading ?source()
would I just do:
source("my_Rcode.txt")
Thanks,
Michael

RFD: create new list and forum 'wine-newbies'
It has been suggested that the wine-users list
is now too busy, and needs to be split into two:
one for experienced users, and one for beginners.
However, this might leave the beginners adrift
without any experienced people to help them.
So I don't think we should do it unless at least
a handful of experienced users are willing to join the
new group and lend a hand. I'm willing, but I

Beginner's Guide to Wine? (mac user)
I am absolutely new to wine, and as such, am fairly clueless as to how to maneuver wine in terminal--or even maneuver in terminal, at all. I am interested in learning. The funny thing is: all the threads in the "Absolute Beginners" section of the forum is generally pretty far beyond my comprehension. So, I'm wondering if someone could refer me to a introductory guide to using script

open source editor for r for beginners
Hello all,
I am looking for an editor for R which has got functions beyond the normal R
editor that is included in the program.
I had a look at VIM but I think it's difficult if you are just starting
programming.
Could anyone recommend an editor that is suitable for beginners?
Thanks for your help.

Which FM should beginners R? A suggestion.
We've recently had a thread on beginners and FAQs and the like.
I decided that it might be a good idea to offer a short list of
on-line help pages that beginners should read. Goals:
- the list short be short (I think mine is too long)
- many of the commonest questions should find answers there (fairish)
- I should have found the pages helpful myself (no question about that)
- it's a

Beginners manual for emacs and ess
Hi
I heard so much about Emacs and ESS that I decided to try it out - but I
am stuck at the beginning.
Is there anywhere a beginners manual for Emacs & ESS to be used with R?
even M-x S tells me it can't start S-Plus - obviously - but I want it to
start R...
Any help welcome (otherwise I will be stuck with Eclipse and R)

Beginner help about output in R
Dear R experts,
I am a beginner with R and I have a question regarding the output of a
function.
Basically, I created 2 functions, value1 and value2, that calculate two
values, and I would like to print those two values to an output datafile. I
tryed the following function:
function (x) {write.table(data.frame(value1(x),value2(x)),file=output.txt)}
My problem is that I would like to calculate
