Performance difference of running Linux in PV or FV mode?
Hey, I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 with FV mode. I use this server for web server (command line mode only, no X window) So should I hack my current installation into a PV mode for production use? In fact, any min. performanc gain suppose I should get? (Any bechmark?) Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

dbench & similar - as a valid benchmark
hi everybody would a tool such as dbench be a valid bechmark for gluster? and, most importantly, is there any formula to estimate raw fs to gluster performance ratio for different setups? for instance: having a replicated volume, two bricks, fuse mountpoint to volume via non-congested 1Gbps or even a volume on single brick with fuse client mountpoing loca...

R vs Python performance-wise
...ferences and what made you stick to one over another? I also noticed that there are strong libraries for social networks on both. python: networkX: https://networkx.lanl.gov/wiki pySNA: http://www.menslibera.com.tr/pysna/ R: sna, network etc. see: http://www.jstatsoft.org/v24 Has anyone run a bechmark of the two systems doing the same operation? Which is the right environment for large social networks? Some packages have bindings for both languages, and of course, there's a reliable way to bind the two languages together, Rpy: http://rpy.sourceforge.net/ So this may not be a big deal...

Benchmarks for LLVM-generated Binaries
Have you seen the prototype for googlebenchmark integration I did in the past: https://reviews.llvm.org/D18428 <https://reviews.llvm.org/D18428> (though probably out of date for todays test-suite) +1 for copying the googlebechmark into the test-suite. However I do not think this should simply go into MultiSource: We currently have a number of additional plugins in the lit test runner such as measuring the runtime of the benchmark executable, determining code size, we still plan to add a mode to run benchmarks multiple times...

ZFS bechmarks w/8 disk raid - Quirky results, any thoughts?
Hi All, I''ve just built an 8 disk zfs storage box, and I''m in the testing phase before I put it into production. I''ve run into some unusual results, and I was hoping the community could offer some suggestions. I''ve bascially made the switch to Solaris on the promises of ZFS alone (yes I''m that excited about it!), so naturally I''m looking

R benchmarking program
Hi All, I've just rebuild the latest R with the Goto BLAS on our new Intel quad core machines. I did a few basic matrix calculations, and I was very impressed by the performance I saw. I wonder if anyone has a more rigorous benchmarking program for R. I downloaded a old R test/benchmarking program (see below), and this didn't work with the current R, and so I wondered if anyone could
