How to work out 3-way probabilities
Hello. I have a quick question. I try to use logit regression, to work out probabilities in the sport event. I have work out probabilities for group of 2 players: p1 - probability, what player1 will beat player2 p2 - probability, what player2 will beat player1 pt - tie probability, p1 <- 1 - p1 - p2; Now i want to work out probabilities for group of 3 players, like: pg1 - probability, what

Cluster Heart Beat Using Cross Over Cable
Hi, I am running two node active/passive cluster running Centos3 update 8 64 bit on Hp Box with external hp storage connected via scsi. My cluster was running fine for last 3 years. But all of a sudden cluster service keep on shifting (atleast one time in a day )form one node to another. After analysed the syslog i found that due to some network fluctuation service was getting shifted. Both

Multi-line graph?
...beforehand. So I hope this question is not unacceptably ignorant but I have perused every entry level document I can find and so far I'm out of luck. I'm trying to graph some simple music psychology data. Columns are musical intervals, rows are the initials of the subjects. Numbers are in beats per minute (this is the value at which they hear the melodic interval split into two streams). So here's my table: Tenth Fifth Third GG 112 152 168 EC 100 120 140 SQ 160 184 NA SK 120 100 180 I want a multi-line graph where the intervals are on the X axis, and the...

Some ideas about embeding data in ogg files...
...at my school before I graduate. My idea is to make an application that would let people manually enter "beat streams" that can follow along with the music. These "beat streams" how ever they are processed could be used in many ways. Visualizations, strobe lights, mood guessing, beats staying the same as they crass fade from one song to another, etc... Ogg is a great format, and I think if we could integrate this sequencing system into an ogg file we could really come up with something that lets music and other sounds move beyond just playing and into better quality through bett...

How to beat Google aka Xapian & Natural Language Processing.
Xapians! If tomorrow Xapian search engine would achieved the same performance and result in searches as Google we would not be able to beat Google, because we would create only a copy of the searches that already exists from Google search engine. However there is a way to beat anyone, and there is a way to beat Google successfully as well just do not give up. Some see it as implementing Ajax, or

A new era in Radio! Don't miss The Experimental Beat! (fwd)
Hello, Excuse the blatent self-promotion and certain degree of off-topicness, but I thought people here might find this of interest. We just recorded a radio show using Fideliphone (www.fideliphone.com) which uses CELT. Not sure exactly which version but the most recent release of Fideliphone was in May so it's probably not the most recent version. Anyway it performed beautifully! I

Finding the dominant factor in an unbalanced group
...r whom I'm looking at beat to beat RR interval changes. I have plotted the difference between one beat length and the next against the difference between the previous beat length and the current one. This gives me a plot with four quadrants: the bottom left corresponding to successively shorter beats, the top right to succesively longer, the top left to a shorter followed by a longer beat and the bottom right to a longer by a shorter. In theory if successive changes in beat length are random there should be an approximately equal number of counts in each quadrant of my plot. I have a datafram...

Bessel function
Dear all Currently, I'm implementing the generalized hyperbolic distribution into Splus. Unfortunately the Bessel function is not implemented in Splus. In R the Bessel function does exist but it is an internal function and I'm not able to look at the code. Is there any possibility to see the code of the Bessel function in R or does anybody has an implementation of the Bessel function in

Filled step-function?
Hello, I'd like to generate a filled step-function in R as you can see in the attachement (image is generated by grapher, but I need a freely available alternative). The problem is, that I don't know, how to fill it up. My code right now looks like this: pH <- c(0,6.1,6.1,6.3,6.6,7.3,0) Tiefe <- c(0,0,10,40,80,120,10) plot(pH,Tiefe, type="s",main="Tiefenfunktion

RFC: Improving performance of HashString
...aster. That's on long strings. It would be worth checking the startup overhead for typically short identifiers in programs. See later on in the README: "When used in a hash table the instruction cache will usually beat the CPU and throughput measured here. In my tests the smallest FNV1A beats the fastest crc32_hw1 with Perl 5 hash tables. Even if those worse hash functions will lead to more collisions, the overall speed advantage beats the slightly worse quality. See e.g. A Seven-Dimensional Analysis of Hashing Methods and its Implications on Query Processing for a concise overview of t...

It's normal for bareos mailing list and bugtrac system. Bareos is paid support oriented (even opesourced), so don't expect so much help from them - when they could get some money for that (paid support). For me it was
