...om the ports.
I'm running dovecot 1.0.r26 and everything is working great.
I been noticing that dovecot isn't updating when the user last logged
in.. and I can't seem to figure out why. I also can't seem to find
anything in the archives about it.. so am I the only one?

nlme package dependencies?
Dear R-help,
The following nlme example, from help(Variogram.gls), does not work on my

It looks like I might not have loaded a necessary package. I did load nls

append to path from login script?
I'm wondering if there is a way to add a network share (either UNC or
mapped drive) to the path of a user when they login?
for example have a directory \\smbserver\apps and put putty.exe in
there.. so that when I sit down at a machine I will always have putty in
the path..
Is that possible?

How to extract every nth element from a vector
R-helpers:
Is there a simple way to extract every nth element from a very long vector?
[The vector I want to sample from is an object returned by lowess(). It is
so long (11,628 pairs of elements) that it is causing non-R-related memory
problems elsewhere. I don't see a better way other than sampling the output
returned from lowess.]
Thanks in advance.

VZW Blackberry BIS problems?
Ever since Columbus day things have been strange with my two dovecot
servers, according to my Blackberry users.
We do not have a BES just the standard BIS that comes with a personal
account.
Several people have told me that since that Monday that they get
occasional duplicate copies of messages which only appear singularly in
their Maildir inboxes.
I myself even called VZW and got

Modem sharing
In either this mailing list, or on comp.protocols.smb
I saw a posting where someone solved the problem
of modem sharing (PCs sharing a Unix modem).
I beleive this was done with a daemon running on the
unix box, serving a port that was connected to by
a device driver on the PC, creating a virtual COM:
device on the PC.
If anybody can point me to this I'd be greatful.

help, oplocks problem still?
Hello all,
I have a foxpro application that someone else wrote that I am trying to

in my [global] section I have the following:

echo password | smbpasswd -sa name
smbpasswd -sa name password
echo password | smbpasswd -D5sa name
(this gets me the ability to add a password by hand..)
# echo password | smbpasswd -D5sa name

FreeBSD 4.11 -> 6.2 Oplocks issue..
Hello all,
I am updating a working 4.11 server to 6.2. It runs two simple apps
quite nicely and has been doing so for years.
I have the 4.11 box up to 3.0.22 and I am putting 3.0.26a on the new 6.2
machine.
When I do that (and move the config over) the apps do not load and smbd
crashes, twice it even took the server down with it..
I have even gone so far as to run testparm -v and diff the

net ads user add -F 'user flags'
working with samba 3.5.10 on CentOS.. and AD to a win2k8r2 machine..
I'll say this outright as I can not seem to find a concrete answer,
please correct where applicable.
* You can create accounts in linux on AD, but they can not be enabled
from linux. To enable you must use Win2k8r2 to literally enable them.
Unless you want to use ldap tools.
* Samba needs the DNS servers (and dns domain)

Hello All,
I'm trying to figure out where the problem is, but I'm not having much
luck as I seem to get conflicting information from the various logs on

I'm getting this in the /var/log/samba/log.smbd:
