[Bridge] tg3 bridge problems
...linux servers for network (layer2) redundancy with a bridge interface containing two ethernet interfaces connecting to two switches. So far I didn't have any problems with it, but now a very strange thing happens with a new server I'm installing. The server is an ibm x346 having two onboard BCM5721 cards, the switches are cisco 3550, and I've tested with kernel versions 2.6.10 and 2.4.28. The bpdu's from the cisco switches simply cannot be seen on the server, causing loops in l2 traffic. I've tested with sticking a hub between the c3550 and the server, the switch sends out the bp...

Bug#511579: xen-utils-common: Confirmation. This issue broke my system after upgrade.
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 3.2.0-2 Followup-For: Bug #511579 My system is a Dell PowerEdge SC1435. As most of the servers of this category, it comes with 2 network interfaces. Both based on a Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 chip, set up via tg3 module. Does multiple NIC's triggers the bug? This link helped me a lot: https://systemausfall.org/wikis/howto/XenUpgrade3.2 -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux...

Optimizing Linux to run Asterisk
Could anyone either recommend a website or howto on optimizing Linux to run asterisk. Such examples of what I mean are.. Renice of asterisk pid's Forcing irq smp_affinity (For interupt hogging T1 cards) .. That kind of stuff, I looked on the wiki and nothing directly mentions server optimization. Or, is this something that *should* be totally irrelevent when dealing with Asterisk. P.S. I

Hi, I am getting a new sangoma t1 card soon and that will max out my slots, which means i need to take out a card. I am going to take out my pci network interface card (10/100) I have an open pci-e slot i have never used in the machine so i am going to buy a pci-e 10/100 or gigabit network adapter. I want to find one that works natively with the linux kernel. I hate using hardware that

GPL PV drivers for Windows 0.9.11-pre12
I''ve just uploaded 0.9.11-pre12 of the GPL PV drivers for Windows. Since -pre10 (and -pre11) I''ve fixed a heap of crashes that were plaguing xennet under load, and also rewritten the interrupt/event distribution logic to improve performance. Under windows 2003 I can now get network speeds of 1-2Gbit/second TX and 600Gbit/second RX, which is considerably better than I was

Release 0.9.5 of GPL PV Drivers for Windows
I''ve just made my first ever attempt at an Nullsoft installer, so if you want to try it download "Xen PV Drivers 0.9.5.exe" from http://www.meadowcourt.org/downloads/ The installer should detect the version of windows you are running and install the drivers. At the moment you''ll need to install the shutdown monitor service manually, but you can do that from the start
