SAMBA and NFS
Can samba connect to an NFS share and then re-export that share so my
windows XP users can connect to it? Basically I have a NFS share that all
of my windows XP users need read-only access to. The goal of this project
is to replace an old MS Gateway Services for Novell server (using IPX) with
something that can do the same thing but over IP. I am pretty sure Novell
and AD can share files

IAX voicemail notification
Hey list (again - annoying bastard I am)
I've played with Firefly/* for a while and I have yet to find a way to
have * send voicemail notification to Firefly. It appears possible using
SIP (no clue whether Firefly supports it) in the sip.conf file, but
there's no mention of anything voicemail-related in the IAX.conf file.
I'm using IAX with Firefly, so that might just be the

A Follow up to my fedora question: Favorite Flavor Of Linux?
Than my question is this? Now that I have switchtowerized and migrate
enabled my app I can start down a new path if need be on a different
OS as the base of the system. We have already tried CentOS and found
it to have more issues than those mentioned about fedora and through
it away faster than one could shake a stick at. Here are our
requirements for a stage/dev box and production:

changing behavior of xendomains stop
I''m running xen 3.1.2 as bastardized by RedHat on a redhat
clone operating system. I''m using the xendomains script
as it came out of the box to start my domU''s at boot
and stop them at shutdown.
There are three problems right now:
1) left to its own devices,
service xendomains stop
attempts to do "xm save" on each of the domU''s. that

Ruby hangman (was Re: List etiquette question)
"Beast" is more appropriate than you know. It''s definately Frankenstein
code. (read: it ain''t pretty, but it works - some of the time). Anyway, it
entertains my wife; not sure if hardcore programmers will get anything out
of it or not.
You might find it interesting (or pointless) that in a complete
bastardization of rails'' main reason for being it

kernel update with yum - no grub entry
Hi people
I am new to this list - actually I am one of (probably) a few who are
jumping ship from WBEL. I feel like a bit of a scab jumping over at this
time - but we all make mistakes eh?
I have installed CentOS and ran 'yum update' and installed everything it
prompted me for. After a reboot, I realised I had booted into the same
original kernel-2.4.21-20.EL.c0smp and not the updated

Can I STOP decoding at an exact sample?
Hi guys,
Thanks Matt for your prompt response about the C++ problem, its working
great now!
Again for my "virtual cdplayer", I am wondering if its possible to stop
decoding within a large file, at the end of an exact sample?
ie. I wish to play a song in the middle of a flac'd cd. Using the file
decoder, I can seek to the start of the track(index 01 of the cds TOC),
but I then want

OpenSSL tools are not installed
Hi,
I just had some issues with unvalidated certificates after the update of
the mail/fetchmail port.
The solution was to add the missing certificates manually, but that
involved running the c_rehash script, that currently isn't installed.
Of course, I could run it directly from src/crypto/openssl/tools/, but
that isn't an option for users that don't have the source installed.
So,

assign names to vectors in loop
Dear List,
I like to assign names to vectors in a loop.
Here is a short example:
DMUs <-
as.data.frame(matrix(c("b","c","d","a","e","h","i","f","g","j","k","l"),ncol
=7, nrow=10))
colnames(DMUs) <- v_DMUs <-

hangup detection
So I made the mistake of buying a Carrier Access channel bank without
noticing the page on the wiki about the fact that they don't support
disconnect supervision (bastards!). However, apart from that, I do have
it working fine for incoming calls.
Is there some trick to get asterisk to detect the hangup tones from
SBC? I've tried busydetect and callprogress as suggested, but neither
seems to work. The tone is not a busy tone, but that ear-piercing high
pitch...
