DECT gateways
...ce/experience.
Some of our customers are asking us about DECT solutions for
their asterisk install. Some others will not go to asterisk
if there won't be a DECT solution.
They now have a Siemens or a Samsung PBX. Those PBX-es come
with a DECT basestation and optionally repeaters etc.
All those basestations speak some own protocol to the PBX,
so we cannot use them with asterisk.
I been looking around on the internet and found the Kirk
gear. Anyone has any experience with them ? The website
states they are recognized as Cisco 7970 in CCM. Does
chan-sccp handel those Kirk emulated devices ?

Intro to DECT vs IP
We've deoplyed a number of pure VoIP wireless (wifi & proprietary) phones, but not dect.
Is there a simple overview of integrating DECT phones with Asterisk somewhere? I assume the DECT basestation has a multi-account SIP VoIP interface, and the handsets are just plain old dect?
Can you push configuration info to individual phones? (Are they individually addressible / configurable

Siemens Gigaset IP in USA (S685 IP in particular)
For some unfathomable reason, Siemens USA doesn't offer the Gigaset IP
range in the U.S. I'm particularly interested in the Gigaset S685 IP.
Since it's DECT 6.0, and there's an English (UK) version, I'm thinking
it should work just fine, after dealing with the walwart issue (and
maybe caller ID signalling).
Anyone imported one from the UK and using it in the US? for how

Hi all,
i try to set up something like a mixer and soundbridge.
There are several sender clients which sends opus encoded audiostreams.
One basestation is decoding the streams and mixing them all together.
After that, the resulting stream is encoded with opus again and send to
one or two receiving clients.
Opus is set up to encode 10ms packets in stereo with 16bit per sample
and 44kHz. So,

DTMF out to Cell Phone
I set up a monitoring system that calls my techs when a problem occurs on
one of our networks, everything works fine unless asterisk calls a cell
phone in which case the tech can not respond using dtmf. It works fine if
the tech call in but not if asterisk call a tech's cell phone. Anyone one
have any suggestions?
Thanks

Use DECT GAP handsets with Snom M3 base?
Anyone have practical experience using inexpensive GAP-compliant DECT
handsets with the Snom M3 basestation?
When I asked Snom support, the answer was that 'basic functionality
should work', but they didn't elaborate. I'm _guessing_ that means
registering/unregistering with the base, making calls, and receiving
calls (including presenting caller ID). They also stated that they

Samba Kerberos Logs
Hi team,
Is there a way to grab Kerberos specific log entries?
Example:
/Auth: [Kerberos KDC,ENC-TS Pre-authentication] user.../
I have tried using the kerberos class but nothing was logged when I
specified a path.
This is what I have on my smb.conf.

Newbie would like some planning advice.
My wife and daughter, and to lesser extent myself and my daughters
boyfriend would like a communications system which allowed us to talk
to each other, both on a one on one basis, but also occassionally in
conference. My wife and I live in a house with an internal LAN with
each of us with a desktop machine (hers in Windows XP, mine runs Linux)
and a Linux server acting as firewall and NAT

Is there a low cost cell phone base station for asterisk ?
I don't really know the name of what I want to look for but maybe
someone could tell me if it would be available.
I have a number of old analogue cell phones laying about here and I was
thinking it would be useful if I could set up a short range base station
for them that would cover maybe an acre or so. What I would like to be
able to do is use it to connect into Asterisk and this way

DECT to SIP gateway experiences
G'day. I hope this isn't off-topic for the list.
I am looking at an Asterisk setup that includes cordless phones. The
three choices I can see, at this stage, are:
* wifi phones
* an ATA and a cordless analog phone
* a DECT to SIP basestation
The various wifi phone options don't grab us as suitable -- they are
costly, have poor battery life and even the best have pretty mixed

Samba Logs
Hi team,
Hope that someone can guide me in the right direction.
This is on Samba 4.18.6; Ubuntu 23.10
I have put max log size: 512002 under smb.conf for testing. However,
this doesn't apply to log.samba. The logs for that are all capped at 5
mb before rotation happens.
This is what I have on my smb.conf.

Advice on Folder Redirection for users that work remotely
Hi team,
Would someone be able to advise us on how to handle 'Folder Redirection'
for users that work remotely?
We?ve noticed that user profiles often don?t load until users connect to
the VPN tunnel. How do you handle issues where user profiles fail to
load before the user authenticates to the domain controller? While
trying to minimise any input from the end-users.

Maybe i found the source of the problem.
The basestation is running several threads. One per sending client and
one per receiving client. In each thread there is either an
opus_encode() or an opus_decode() but there is in total only one
OpusEncoder and one OpusDecoder defined which where used in every
thread. Now every thread has it own OpusEncoder or OpusDecoder.

Getting 'Access Denied' under Offline mode (Offline Files)
Hi team,
Hoping someone from the community would be able to help.
Samba version *: 4.19.5*
OS *: Ubuntu 24.04*
We have a perculiar situation where users are getting /Access Denied/ on
their roaming user profiles. These profiles are redirected using Windows
GPOs with Offline Files enabled. We could replicate these on several
instances that we manage.
On version 4.15.13, when 'Offline

I didn't know you were using a DC as a fileserver, this is not
recommended.
If I had know, I would have asked for the output of 'samba-tool
testparm'.
However, I can work with what you have provided.

Cisco SPA3102 Thoughts & Other Recommendations
I'm looking to build a VoIP solution for 100+ service vehicles that have
WiFi hot spots installed (with cellular uplinks). Currently we are
trying out Skype wireless handselts and Majick Jack. I'd also like to
consider an Open Source solution that can bring the calls back to our
data center [possibly integrated without our existing BCM 3.x VoIP
PBX].
