DECT gateways
Heya list, I need some advice/experience. Some of our customers are asking us about DECT solutions for their asterisk install. Some others will not go to asterisk if there won't be a DECT solution. They now have a Siemens or a Samsung PBX. Those PBX-es come with a DECT basestation and optionally repeaters etc. All those basestations speak some own protocol to the PBX, so we cannot use them with asterisk. I been looking around on the internet and found the Kirk gear. Anyone has any experience with them ? The website states they are recognized as Cisco 7970 in CCM. Does...

Intro to DECT vs IP
We've deoplyed a number of pure VoIP wireless (wifi & proprietary) phones, but not dect. Is there a simple overview of integrating DECT phones with Asterisk somewhere? I assume the DECT basestation has a multi-account SIP VoIP interface, and the handsets are just plain old dect? Can you push configuration info to individual phones? (Are they individually addressible / configurable through SIP) etc? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:...

Siemens Gigaset IP in USA (S685 IP in particular)
..., I'm thinking it should work just fine, after dealing with the walwart issue (and maybe caller ID signalling). Anyone imported one from the UK and using it in the US? for how long? impressions? anything not working? Have you purchased additional US-spec handsets and used them with the UK basestation? Thanks in advance, Paul

1276 Bytes returned by opus_encode
Hi all, i try to set up something like a mixer and soundbridge. There are several sender clients which sends opus encoded audiostreams. One basestation is decoding the streams and mixing them all together. After that, the resulting stream is encoded with opus again and send to one or two receiving clients. Opus is set up to encode 10ms packets in stereo with 16bit per sample and 44kHz. So, decoded to pcm-bytes there are 1920 bytes for each pa...

DTMF out to Cell Phone
I set up a monitoring system that calls my techs when a problem occurs on one of our networks, everything works fine unless asterisk calls a cell phone in which case the tech can not respond using dtmf. It works fine if the tech call in but not if asterisk call a tech's cell phone. Anyone one have any suggestions? Thanks John Fullington

Use DECT GAP handsets with Snom M3 base?
Anyone have practical experience using inexpensive GAP-compliant DECT handsets with the Snom M3 basestation? When I asked Snom support, the answer was that 'basic functionality should work', but they didn't elaborate. I'm _guessing_ that means registering/unregistering with the base, making calls, and receiving calls (including presenting caller ID). They also stated that they di...

Newbie would like some planning advice.
...also with broadband running windows XP. My wife and daughter would both like to be able to talk whilst walking around the house. My daughter has tried a bluetooth headset connected to a dongle on her computer but found the delays unacceptable. Ideally a DECT handset, which communicates with a basestation that either plugs into a LAN, or one of the computers would seem good and indeed the Philips VOIP1211 would seem to possibly fit the bill and be in a good price range. Unfortunately, all I can find out about its interface capability is that it is "Skype compatible". The same is...

Is there a low cost cell phone base station for asterisk ?
I don't really know the name of what I want to look for but maybe someone could tell me if it would be available. I have a number of old analogue cell phones laying about here and I was thinking it would be useful if I could set up a short range base station for them that would cover maybe an acre or so. What I would like to be able to do is use it to connect into Asterisk and this way

DECT to SIP gateway experiences
G'day. I hope this isn't off-topic for the list. I am looking at an Asterisk setup that includes cordless phones. The three choices I can see, at this stage, are: * wifi phones * an ATA and a cordless analog phone * a DECT to SIP basestation The various wifi phone options don't grab us as suitable -- they are costly, have poor battery life and even the best have pretty mixed reviews. They just don't, at least in Australia, compare well to the non-wifi options. I know a lot of people have success with an ATA and a standa...

1276 Bytes returned by opus_encode
Maybe i found the source of the problem. The basestation is running several threads. One per sending client and one per receiving client. In each thread there is either an opus_encode() or an opus_decode() but there is in total only one OpusEncoder and one OpusDecoder defined which where used in every thread. Now every thread has it own OpusEncoder...

Cisco SPA3102 Thoughts & Other Recommendations
I'm looking to build a VoIP solution for 100+ service vehicles that have WiFi hot spots installed (with cellular uplinks). Currently we are trying out Skype wireless handselts and Majick Jack. I'd also like to consider an Open Source solution that can bring the calls back to our data center [possibly integrated without our existing BCM 3.x VoIP PBX]. For hardware someone on the IRC

Siemens Gigaset C450 IP vs S450 IP
I've just ordered a Siemens Gigaset C450 IP cordless IP/DECT phone, given that it's supported by asterisk http://www.voipuser.org/review_41.html However, I see that a slightly better Gigaset S450 IP is available for only a slight price premium. Are there any user experiences with the S450 IP? -- Eugen* Leitl <a href="http://leitl.org">leitl</a> http://leitl.org
