Wherefore SELinux?
...tried to wrap my head around SELinux several times, and so far, all I've managed to do is rap my head, and then somewhat painfully. Is there a detailed "SELinux Unleashed" style book anybody can recommend? Anybody read Oreilly's book care to comment? prevalence of R in publications and institutions
...Cell (864)-561-4240 > Because R is an Open Source system which is freely distributed and may be freely redistributed there is no way of keeping track of the downloads and its use in academic and research institutions. Searching for "R statistics" at a book site such as amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com should produce enough hits to convince your colleagues of an active development community. On scholar.google.com the system itself has been cited 3782 times and the initial paper on the system by Ihaka and Gentleman has been cited over 6000 times. Others on the R-help list may be able to giv...

C vs. C++ as learning and development tool for R
...le to contribute a package someday. I have been doing some reading and from what I can tell R is more compatible with C, but C++ has much greater capabilities for OO programming. I have just started reading The C++ Programming Language: Special Edition by Bjarne Stroustrup <http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?ATH=Bjarne+Stro ustrup&z=y> , he recommends first learning C++ and then then C if necessary, but as a developer of C++, he is probably biased. I would greatly appreciate the advice of the R developers and package contributors on this subject. "C" or...

Time series analysis with irregular time-series
Dear R users I am currently investigating time series analysis using an irregular time series. Our study is looking at vegetation change in areas of alien vegetation growth after clearing events. The irregular time series is sourced from Landsat ETM+ data, over a six year period I have 38 scenes. For certain periods I have monthly data while for others, images are up to three months apart. So far

R/S-related projects on Sourceforge? Trove Categorization
Hi R-Users and Developers, Several months ago I made a request on Sourceforge to add the R/S - programming language to the _Trove_ categorization. ("The Trove is a means to convey basic metainformation about your project.") Today I got the following response of one of the sourceforge admins. <SNIP> SourceForge.net will consider the inclusion of a programming language within
