Centos 4.4 Install bug
...CPU qty discovery problem during install.
When the smp kernel is installed from rpm it works
fine and even enables numa properly.
We used the Net boot i386 iso image and loaded
the machine from over the network.
We then tried the x86_64 version with the same
results.
Any suggestions???

If you can get along with using webmin, try shorewall.
*If* this is going to be in a bigger than SOHO (+ 30 PC) network, go
with shorewall.
Just my $.02, good luck with the site, it'll help a lot of people. :-)

This seems to work fine on a standard Centos 5.5 x86_64 install. I am
going to run this on a test server for a few weeks and see how well it
works. If I see any issues I will report them but so far it works just fine

Swap is hard coded into fstab and if the array

This is not a Centos limitation, it's an operating system / BIOS /

Hope this helps

CPU temperature?
Has anyone gotten lm_sensors to work on a CentOS3.3/RHEL3 box? I think
I'm having CPU temperature-related problems, and wanted some way to
monitor it. I believe lm_sensors does this, but can't seem to figure out
how to get it to work.
I already did "yum install lm_sensors" but when I run sensors-detect, it
complains:
Couldn't open /proc/bus/i2c?!? at /usr/sbin/sensors-detect

the application seg faults. Other machines that we have installed 6.2 on

Anyone with a work around or fix for this?
Has anyone reported this upstream as a bug?
Thanks in advance,

RAID card recommendation
Hey all,
After seeing the horrible lack of support for Promise cards in Redhat
Enterprise/CentOS, I am looking for a recommendation for a good IDE RAID
controller that is supported out of the box (i.e. I would prefer not to
have to install via a driver disk).
I would prefer ATA 133 over Serial ATA for now.
Thanks!

I'm just wondering what folks are using to benchmark/tune large arrays

RAM. Maybe there's a better way?

Getting kernel source for 2.6.9-42.ELsmp
Hello!
I need to get an arcnet device driver up and running. Normally it
appears to be distributed with linux, but not installed. So, I need to
compile and install it, naturally.
So, where is the kernel souce for 2.6.9-42.ELsmp? I can find kernel
source for 2.6.9.
BTW, I obtained 2.6.9 and tried compiling it, but all I got was *.o
files and
insmod: error inserting 'arcnet.o`: -1

gives me after loading the drivers, but when I try to use them, it
doesn't do anything. Nothing works.

athlon64/opteron 8GB per CPU
I'm putting together a spec for a big(ger) memory x86_64 host, and I hope some
of you-all can help. I'm looking for success stories of hardware that folks
are using in production environments, preferably with CentOS 4, with more than
4GB of memory per CPU.
I know there are lots of mobos out there that can do this, but I'm looking for
what folks really have running. Call me
