Ho do i manage NAT''ed egress bandwidht?
Hi,
I have a Debian based NAT router. How can I manage upstream egress
bandwidth based on the LAN ipadress in the network below? My goal is
that host1 get a minumum of 10Mbit up/down and host2 gets a minimum of
90Mbit up/down, both max 100Mbit up/down?

Bandwidth Allocation...
...a server, to provide internet to 5 machines, with a dsl
connection.
I m not in familiar with bandwidth shaping, so Im going to start reading
about it.
What Im looking is something which let me assign the bandwidth in a dynamic
way.(dynamic bandwidth allocation).
For example:
If I assign X bandwidht to each PC.(equal), and Pc1 is not using the %100 of
the bandwidht assigned, I want the others PC in the network to be able to
use the bandwidth PC 1 is not using.
Please let me know if this is possible.
If it is possible which HOWTO should i start reading?.And what tools do i
need.

problem using rshaper
...dth
doesn''t seem to come under the specified limit. We are not sure what we did
is right. This is what we did.
insmod rshaper.o
rshaperctl 192.168.1.20 500
There were no errors.
192.168.1.20 is our IP in a LAN. Our kernel version is 2.4.7. We
monitored the incoming bandwidht using IPtraf. But the rate shown goes much
above what we have given. We are trying in an independent machine, but we
want to implement it in a router. Any idea on where the problem lies? or
Any other solution for limiting incoming bandwidth based on IP
address/protocol?

Need some help
...h and
irc) connection at 15 kBps (128 kbps) and the other type of traffic at
32 kBps (256kbps). Is the script right?
Moreover I want understand better how htb work: I can shape the traffic
router->lan but I can''t shape traffic lan->router, is it right? In this
way I can limit the bandwidht towards lan, but I have the bandwith
towards router always full.
Thanks
P.S.: sorry for my very bad english :)

efficiency issue with rsync.....
...are almost the same, (e.g. I just
added something to the end of a mailbox) the bandwidth of the link
is not fully used while the counters are running quickly. Is this
unavoidable "the machine simply won't generate enough work to
keep the link busy" or is there a bug in the "limit bandwidht to XX"
code? (I limit to 30k per second, and I see rsync doing lots of small
sleeps. If you try to sleep for 100 usec, you'll actually be woken up
by the kernel after a whopping 20 msec.)

Problem with HTB and ceil
Hi,
I am trying to setup a shaper for my linux box and I am experiencing some
problems. What I am trying to do is priorizing packets on the egress link,
therefore I have setup some prio classes etc. The priorizing seem to work but
the problem is that the ceil parameter doesnt seem to work on non leafs.
This is what stats show:
> class htb 1:1 root rate 3000bit ceil 3000bit burst 1602b/8 mpu

Configuring a QoS Box + Cliente Bandwidth Control
...> interactive (ssh, telnet)
CLASS 1:20 --> http and https
CLASS 1:30 --> pop, smtp and ftp
CLASS 1:40 --> all the rest
This is the way my network work better.
Now my problem is: I have a bunch of clients direct connect into
eth2 device and I need that, this clients, have some bandwidht control.
Consider this:
Client IP range: 192.168.0.0/24
Download band: 32 Kbit for each IP
So I made a script just like this:
-----------------------------
DL="eth2"
CONT="99"
for i in `cat /etc/firewall/qos/hosts.32k`
do
CONT=`expr $CONT + 1`
$TC class...
