Crontab problem
Hi, I seem to have a problem with crontab. I am running CentOS 5.5. If I add my bakup scripts into crontab they take very long to run. If I run my scripts manually they run 100%. I have also tried vixiecron, same issue. Any ideas? Thanks Jenny -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... rsync error: error starting client-server protocol
Hi folks, I have the following problem. I have installed 1.) a rsync daemon on a windows machine under cygwin 2.) installed a tunnel via ssh from the remote machine to my pc 3.) I could run rsync from the remote machine to make bakups On the remote machine and on my pc I have rsync version 2.6.6 protocol version 29. The network admins decided to make 2.) inpossible. So I build the ssh tunnel from the pc to the remote machine but the backup does not longer run. I get now the error you can read in the subject. Any hint to g...

OVERWRITTEN PROFILE!
...nt. During the weekend my system got rebooted. My profile therefore was not updated into the samba pdc. When I reboot it gave some error and showed me my last saved profile. I checked my documents and setting and there was a username.domain_name.bak and username.domain_name Looks like there was a bakup. So what I did was, I logged on as a local admin then I deleted my orginal username.domain_name and renamed the username.domain_name.bak to username.domain_name I logon again and STILL I was given the old profile. I HAVE LOTS OF important and source code files in that directory, which I put in the...

Libvirt save problem
Hi list, i use a centos 7 as virtual host with two guests with windows 2012 standard ( as storage i use RAW files). My problem is that sometime during the bakup my server reboot without leaving information in the log files ( /var/log/messages ). The backup does this steps: 1) Save the state of the virtual guest ( with the command "virsh save " ) 2) Make a snapshot of the filesystem ( with lvm2 ) 3) Make a backup of the snapshot I found that the...

do rsync mark files?
Hello, I?m using cwrysn and rsync to backup a mixed network with linux, unix and nt servers. 12 days ago I had a problem with my other backup system "Bakup Exec" of Veritas company based of tape devices because the incremental copies was anormaly longer that before. The parameters I use with cwrync are. -av --stats --backup --force --ignore-errors --temp-dir=/cygdrive/c/temp --timeout=5400 My question is, Does rsync mark the files that i...

Cannot browse domain user list with 3.5.4
Hi, I am using Samba as a Domain Controler without AD nor LDAP. Everything works fine for a long time with samba 3.3.2. I am trying to upgrade to the latest samba release 3.5.4 . Here is the procedure I followed : - download, configure , and make samba 3.5.4 - stop the samba daemon (3.3.2 ) - bakup the /usr/local/samba tree where samba 3.3.2 is installed - make install , (in the same location as 3.3.2 ) - restart the samba daemon (3.5.4) After doing some tests, everything seems to work ok. Except that : - when trying to use usrmgr.exe as a Domain Admin , I can't connect to the domain , I...

[PATCH] libcurl detection (and a Mac OS X build problem)
vorbis-tools does not seem to perform curl detection properly. The test program it provides will build and link and run even without linking it against libcurl, (at least on my platform: Mac OS X 10.2) which I believe is an error. The following test program would be a better choice: It will fail to build and link on Mac OS X 10.2 unless the correct flags are provided. #include

Filesystem level backups?
Up until now I've been backing up my IMAP server by taking an atomic snapshot of the entire VM, so I've not really had to worry about it. I'm moving to hosting where I have neither VM snapshots nor a filesystem that can take snapshots, so I need to think about consistent backups a bit more. Will a simple backup of all the files of an multi-dbox give me a consistent state when I

Promise raid cards
Hello. I would like to know if promise RAID cards are compatible with CentOS / RHEL ? I have seen that only SATA is supported on the RHEL hardware compatibility list. The other ATA raid cards seems not to be compatible. They give source code and promise grants compatibility with RedHat 8 and 9 but not RHEL. I would like to know if somebody tried a ATA raid card like Fasttrack TX2000, SX4000,
