3Ware 9650SE and XFS problems under Centos 5.3
.... So at this point I'm not sure where the problem lies. Is it the card that is faulty/problematic or is it something with the XFS file system? I'll take the XFS problem first as it's the most recent. When I logged in today I found the following in my server logs: Sep 7 21:08:19 backup kernel: XFS internal error XFS_WANT_CORRUPTED_GOTO at line 1561 of file /home/buildsvn/rpmbuild/BUILD/xfs-kmod-0.4/_kmod_build_/xfs_alloc.c. Rsync and differential Backups
Hi list, how to perform a differential backup using rsync? On web there is a great confusion about diff backup concept when searched with rsync. Users says diff because it copy only differences. For me differential is backup from last full backup. Other users says that to perform a differential backup I must include in rsync command: --b...

Issue with hard links, please help!
...en the rsync source directory determines that it now requires 21.98GB to update the destination directory. Here is an example of a test that I was doing. [root@backup backup]# cp -al Latest/ ktest/ [root@backup backup]# du --max-depth=1 -h 21G ./Latest 8.7M ./ktest 21G . question about backup regimens
I need to recommend some backup options for a web server running CentOS 4.1. The client prefers using a tape drive as their backup device and has access to safe offsite storage. I was thinking of system backups weekly and differential backups nightly but don't know what software to recommend for the differential b/u...

Can anyone suggest a decent backup system?
Hi all, We have a bit of a problem with backups. We've been using bacula to tape and now trying to disk but it's a complete nightmare as regards tape management. The backup to file storage went ok for ages and now is stuck 'waiting for max storage jobs' which is odd as that's set to 20 and it's the only backup runnin...

Incremental backups and batch mode.
I'm trying to use the rsync algorithm for incremental backups. After a quick look at rsync I saw the batch mode operations, and I thought that maybe I can modify them for incremental backups. What is needed is to add an option to save the checksums of all the files of the level 0 backup and a second option to use the level n checksum to calculate the delta...
