Testing arbitrary SQL
Hi, I would like to know how would you test a method in a model that uses complex a SQL query that joins several tables in order to make a calculation. I suppose that I need fixtures, although my approach with rspec is to avoid fixtures and isolate model specs, but none of both seems possible in this case. Is there another way than fixtures? Thanks.

[LLVMdev] Using C++'11 language features in LLVM itself

quotation marks and scan
Dear R People: I'm sure that this is a very simple problem, but I have been wresting with it for some time. I have the following file that has the following one line: CRS("+init=epsg:28992") Fair enough. I scan it into R and get the following: > u [1] "CRS(\"+init=epsg:28992\")" > gsub(pattern='\"',replacement='"',x=u) [1]

why does rsync translate user@host into '$RSYNC_RSH -l user host'?
...host1!host2!host3 and constructs the requisite ssh ProxyCommand options to do a multihop ssh to host3 to run a command. Very useful if connecting to firewalled nonroutable hosts or to take a particular route through a network. It is a particular joy to run: rsync -e sshto foo host1!host2!host3:bah and have things "just work". So here I am attempting to deposit a kit onto a newly installed nonroutable machine: sshto cameron at accessiblehost!root at newhost blah which works just fine. But if I call rsync with this: rsync -e sshto -aH kit/ cameron at accessiblehost!root at n...

One Dovecot serving 2 domains - possible?
I'm talking about Dovecot 1.0.x, since 1.1.x showed some problems on some of my servers. -- Is it possible to have Dovecot on one machine serving two different domains? How can I set the mailboxes root to one domain to /dir1/ and to the other domain to /dir2/ ? I want all mailboxes from one domain to reside on a different mailbox root. I use Dovecot LDA. Is is possible to set a LDAP

IMO, the only meaty C++11 feature that VS2012 adds over VS2010 is range-based for-loops. > Bah, they can install Mingw binaries. Sure! Actually, I wonder why people care about Visual Studio at all. Mocking system/`
This drives me insane on a regular basis. How does one mock system(''blah'') or `blah` ? Adding expectations on Kernel doesn''t do it. Adding expectations on Object just makes me sad: Object.any_instance.expects(:system).with(''ls'') # => #<Mock:0x12b584e>.system(''ls'') - expected calls: 0, actual calls: 1 And this really

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Section Declarations in LLVM IR
Hi all, I'd like to propose that LLVM IR have a mechanism to describe sections in a more explicit way than we can today. Currently, we provide an attribute called "section" on GlobalVariables and Functions. This attribute will choose which section the Value will end up in. However, it does not describe the attributes of the section. Without a way of describing the section, we try

Ferret Win32 Gem for windows users ...
Hi and thanks for Ferret! I''m wondering if it would be possible to create a Ferret Win32 gem which includes the c performance code pre-compiled for those of us without a C compiler handy ? Zed Shaw seems to have cracked this particular nut with his Mongrel Win32 gem. Alternately, is there a zip of the Win32 .so Ferret needs that I could download and manually install? Kind Regards
