Hey Gang, I'm stuck near the end of installing Samba 4 on a Debian Wheezy machine. I'm trying to connect to a Win2k AD. Basically I can't get "getent passwd" to show domain accounts. I also can't access shares using my credentials. What did I forget?! Here is what works: sudo net ads join -U "DOMAINADMIN" wbinfo -g //shows domain groups! wbinfo -u

Fedora change that will probably affect RHEL
...t back on how that worked out. ?Like every other creature on the face of the earth, Godfrey was, by birthright, a stupendous badass, albeit in the somewhat narrow technical sense that he could trace his ancestry back up a long line of slightly less highly evolved stupendous badasses to that first self- replicating gizmo ? which, given the number and variety of its descendants, might justifiably be described as the most stupendous badass of all time. Everyone and everything that wasn't a stupendous badass was dead.? ? Neal Stephenson, Cryptonomico...

seeking Icecast ninja
I'm in charge of developing a huge music project. Streaming audio content broadcasting multiple channels, live events, dynamically generated playlists, and more will be a feature of the site. I've installed Icecast and spent a lot of time trying to get it functional without much success. I have a massive amount of stuff to coordinate so I'm looking for help to get this thing

querying an NT domain for a list of logged-in users
Hello all, I'm investigating the possibility of creating a Linux-based firewall solution which can allow or reject connections based on the identity of the user currently logged into a machine, similar to what's possible with MS Proxy Server. I know that nmblookup can be used to query the logged-in user on a Win9x machine; is there a similar ready-made mechanism that can be used in an NT

RJS implementation question
Why is RJS so dependant on programatic creation of Javascript? RHTML is a great implementation in that it puts HTML first, and Ruby second. I would have thought RJS would be the same way: a .js with ERb helpers for generating Javascript functions. RJS putting Javascript second means: - I have to learn a whole new set of commands to use Scriptaculous. - Developers have to constantly chase the

Looking for a life-save LVM Guru
Dear Chris, James, Valeri and all, Sorry to have not responded as I'm still on struggling with the recovery with no success. I've been trying to set up a new system with the exact same scenario (4 2TB hard drives and remove the 3rd one afterwards). I still cannot recover. We did have a backup system but it went bad for a while and we did not have replacement on time until this

Going beyond the default html formatter/report?
Hi! I wonder does anybody planning to go beyond the default html formatter/report? The current html report is nice and green but what about to go a little silly and enable also user input. For example to let customer to add a new pending spec, comments etc. I feel it might be mentally easier for some customers to jump into spec world when it is possible to give input at "the same

Can I construct the controller myself in a controller spec?

So I have something like this class LoginSessionsController < ApplicationController def initialize(authenticator = TheRealAuthenticator) @authenticator = authenticator end .... end The plan was to override the authenticator used when testing with something like describe
