Fedora 11 DomU
When I try to virt-install a PV instance of F11, I''m getting an ''invalid
kernel'' message, as if it''s not a Xen kernel. I have tried both the
i386 and x86_64 versions.
Is there any weirdness with this distro that I''m not aware of?

Differences in printing UTF-8 strings to stdout vs. stderr under Windows
It seems that under Windows, some UTF-8 strings that print OK to
stdout do not print correctly to stderr. To reproduce:
x <- "\ub124"
cat(x, file = stdout())
## ?
cat(x, file = stderr())
## <U+B124>

How does printing to stderr differ from printing to stdout?

sub-optimal ZFS performance
Hello,
ZFS is behaving strange on a OSOL laptop, your thoughts are welcome.
I am running OSOL on my laptop, currently b124 and i found that the
performance of ZFS is not optimal in all situations. If i check the
how much space the package cache for pkg(1) uses, it takes a bit
longer on this host than on comparable machine to which i transferred
all the data.

xVM Ready for serious use ?
...1TB in raidz2
This box was going to be built in parallel with the current server and I would have simply copied the VMDK files across.
Main reason for the move to opensolaris is ZFS and all its goodness like;
end-to-end checksumming
expected good NFS and iSCSI performance (I''d be using b124 rather than 0906 due to poor iSCSI performance in comstar 0906)
send/receive for backups
snapshot cloning etc
Now I''m having a change of heart and want to investigate the possibility of moving from three servers to two. Both of them opensolaris with xVM/zones as the virtualization tech...
