Autoreplace not working
First of all: I''m very new to Opensolaris. After reading a lot, I''m mostly interested in the autoreplace function of zfs. I''ve got a Sun Fire X2100 M2 and now run Opensolaris on it. I''ve created a mirror in the rpool pool of 2 sata drives. I''ve also enable the autoreplace function of that pool in zfs. When the pool is up and running, and I physically remove one of the two h...

warm spares on a 4540
Hi, In the doc: http://docs.sun.com/source/819-4359-15/CH3-maint.html#50495545_22785 of the 4540 it mentions you can have warm spares. Is there any zfs setting that labels a drive as a warm spare? Or does this not matter if you use the zpool autoreplace property? Thanks in advance, ~~sa -- ---------------- Shannon A. Fiume System Administrator shannon dot fiume at sun dot com

Big send/receive hangs on 2009.06
So, I was running my full backup last night, backing up my main data pool zp1, and it seems to have hung. Any suggestions for additional data gathering? -bash-3.2$ zpool status zp1 pool: zp1 state: ONLINE status: The pool is formatted using an older on-disk format. The pool can still be used, but some features are unavailable. action: Upgrade the pool using ''zpool

b134 - Mirrored rpool won''t boot unless both mirrors are present
I have two 500 GB drives on my system that are attached to built-in SATA ports on my Asus M4A785-M motherboard, running in AHCI mode. If I shut down the system, remove either drive, and then try to boot the system, it will fail to boot. If I disable the splash screen, I find that it will display the SunOS banner and the hostname, but it never gets as far as the "Reading ZFS config:"

multiple disk failure
Hi, I am using FreeBSD 8.2 and went to add 4 new disks today to expand my offsite storage. All was working fine for about 20min and then the new drive cage started to fail. Silly me for assuming new hardware would be fine :( The new drive cage started to fail, it hung the server and the box rebooted. After it rebooted, the entire pool is gone and in the state below. I had only written a few

ZFS disk failure question
So, my Areca controller has been complaining via email of read errors for a couple days on SATA channel 8. The disk finally gave up last night at 17:40. I got to say I really appreciate the Areca controller taking such good care of me. For some reason, I wasn''t able to log into the server last night or in the morning, probably because my home dir was on the zpool with the failed disk
