Ultima Online
...her does the automatic patching procedure. Is this information out of date (I hope)? Are there any workarounds? Also, does anyone have information on using the 3D client? How about other UO utilities? I don't mean to criticize WINE; what it does is impressive -- but in the case of UO, if autopatching in particular isn't possible under it, then I don't see any point in running the game under WINE... I'd have to use Windows for the autopatch anyway *scratches head*. Bruce

Ext3, 2.4.10, and 2.4 in general
Hello, The 0.9.9 2.4.10pre4 patch doesn't apply. There are 5 rejects. The first three are easy to fix, but the fourth in vmscan.c will be very difficult without being a developer. The fifth I am not sure about. This brings up the fact that many of us are using ext3 and have to patch every time a new kernel comes out. I really think we need to strong arm Linus or something and get

Problems with Ultima Online: Age of Shadows [Textbox glitch + out of memory error]
Hi all! I was trying to run Ultima Online: Age of Shadows (latest patchlevel after autopatch), but I have some problems. The first problem is actually a glitch, in autopatcher, when the textbox is moved at end, the text is hide, because it moves as first character of the textbox the after-the-last character of the text in it. The second is a big problem: when starting the client, it gives an

Re: NWN2 Unable to Detect 3D error.
To anyone who might be reading their way through this. Follow andrew's "How I did It " post here.===>http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=8999. It's most of the way down at the bottom of the page. He goes the long way when he's talking about patching, if you use the auto patcher, and right-click outside the text window, like on the weird guys

RF to IP bridge
I wanted to see if there was anything reasonable in price out there yet that performed an RF to IP bridge via asterisk. What I mean by this is callers from PSTN can be patched to a UHF/VHF radio and vis-?-vis. I know there is an option available for the Avaya systems but it?s a little out of the price range I?m looking for (~$200/channel). Has anyone out there found a stable way to do this?

Invalid format of version.txt issue
Hey, I'm trying to set up the new game: Anno 2070 (releasedate tomorrow) but the autopatcher tells me: "Invalid format of version.txt". I was able to patch via vmware and windows (so there's no problem with any version.txt). I searched everywhere, there's no local version.txt file. I have no idea where it searches that file. What could cause that?

Re: FRS over *
On the various technical issues raised here (OK, we posted the rules, we won't discuss the legality anymore) I think there is only one main obstacle to using FRS radios for extensions on *. They are simplex (push-to-talk, release-to-listen). The protocol for dealing with voice-activated-switching (VOX) has been used in ham and public safety simplex autopatches but it's really tricky

Re: FRS and GMRS via *
You don't need to reinvent anything to tie radios to *. Ham systems like IRLP, Echolink, eqso etc all have fairly tight controls to keep from being abused (although with a little Linux knowledge, the IRLP package can easily be used to set up your own network using their protocol). Jim Dixon seems to have done the work to integrate radios with * already. See

civil emergency comms: Asterisk + HAM
The disaster in the Gulf coast and the less than optimal initial response suggests to me that citizens must shoulder more responsibility for emergency management. Communications loss must have played a large role in the failures that occurred. I can't help but wonder if there are fewer ham radio operators today and that if there were more, maybe they could make a difference in future
