And CUPS on your box is configured to understand > the printer, right? After I figured it out, I wrote a detailed blog post about the subject. http://blog.microlinux.fr/hplip-centos/ Cheers, Niki PS: on a side note, I wanted to

New CentOS/RHEL group on Facebook
Hi, There are currently two competing CentOS groups on Facebook. The "main" group is managed by a small group of autocrats with very unilateral communication skills. The other one is not managed at all, judged by the amount of non-CentOS-related stuff published there (Ubuntu tutorials, Windows games, cheap Ray-Ban sunglasses). I was a bit frustrated by this state of things, the more so

New CentOS/RHEL group on Facebook
I second this. I find it rather ironic that one would try to initiate discussion of an open source operating system and environment in a proprietary walled off world. This seems rather antithetical to the whole intent of centos. - Richard ------------ Original Message ------------ > Date: Monday, October 09, 2017 12:14:55 +0100 > From: Nux! <nux at li.nux.ro> > > I

CentOS 7 + HPLIP = blank page

I tend to avoid wiki sites to which I'm not allowed to contribute; maybe you'd feel like jumping through their hoops, though. i.e. see item 3 at wiki.centos.org/Contribute

New CentOS/RHEL group on Facebook
I personally dislike Facebook, but even so, I think a basic requirement for any web site striving to share knowledge is to be publicly accessible to all which at the moment it is not. Search engines won't be able to crawl it, people without an account won't be able to access it. Can this be changed? Thanks -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! Your whole response to my whole firewall document thing is EXACTLY why I didn't post it on your wiki. Because you are autocratic. Some community. Someone tries to GIVE to the community and the community shits on them. You had this exact same problem last year when you did this as well. OT: "The Ignorance of Crowds" (was: OT Slightly: )
I see what Dean means about how Digium/Asterisk might have struck a balance between "the cathedral and the bazaar" antipodes of the SW development world. Nicholas Carr's "The Ignorance of Crowds" finally states his "politics" when it says "When you move from the bazaar to the cathedral, it?s best to leave your democratic ideals behind." But treating

rsync+ (batch mode) feature suggestion
...ay want to add the following feature, proffered below, in order to conduce a little greater batch mode usage flexibility primarily for those with above average security concerns. Currently (at least in the current, official, stable rsync version), batch mode may only be utilized in a fairly rigid, autocratic, master pushes to slaves mode. Therefore, at least among those slaves with the necessary minutia in place to allow the master to copy batch mode filesets to them and perform remote command execution on them at all, the slaves (like true slaves) have no choice but to make the changes that have been...

Community: How to deal with attempts at sabotage
Hi all, The underlying assumption of membership in any community is that your participation is at worst neutral, and if possible positive. Communities, online or off, generally do what they can to protect themselves from detrimental influences, which is where policies, politeness, moderators, and all that come into play. Puppet''s community has been both fortunate and awesome,
