Authenticaion on incoming calls
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi List,
I wonder if someone else discovered that behavior and hopefully fixed it.
I've two asterisk boxes, both have a user 102. If 102 from Box A calls 105 on
Box B, Box B want's 102 from Box A to authenticate. But it's an incoming call,
there shouldn't be a authentication. Box A doesn't send an authentication so the

Enhancement of wbinfo in samba2.2.6pre2
Hi,
Most of the samba-commands takes a option for smb.conf file
exept for wbinfo.
It should be nice to have that functionallity in wbinfo also.

Issues with domain auth
Ver smb 2.2.7a
Managers, I am having trouble configuring samba as a domain member
authenticating to a win2k domain controller. All other aspects seem to
be functioning but samba is generating a log event when attempting to
connect to the password server as follows.
Machine NDEVDC1 rejected the tconX on the IPC$ share. Error as follows:
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Any help is appreciated.

I am using PAM and pam_smbpass.so with Samba 2.999 (Debian sid package).
If, in /etc/pam.d/samba, I set

then login fails, and the log says:

security = server "random" failures
...from Andrew Bartlett, dated 13 Aug 2002:
"Don't use 'security=server' when you have a real PDC.
That's what security=domain is for. Furthermore, due to
bugs only (possilby) corrected in Win2k SP3 you must use
Samba 2.2.5 or above, as the PDC will otherwise randomly
refuse authenticaion."
Does this statement still apply to 2.2.7a? I'm loathe to
install SP3 because of EULA concerns and, of course,
throwing big chunks of patches into a production server.
Anything else that might make this work?

Looking for NTLM config example
...erbird to my Samba4 AC/DC.
With the help of the samba maillist folks I was able to set up NTLM authentication for domain
user login. I should be able to do the same for email!
But, I need help. I went to http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/Mechanisms/NTLM and got
lost immediately. Are "authenticaion submethods" synonymous with "password schemes"? The 7th
line down says, "NTLM password scheme is required for NTLM, NTLM2 and NTLMv2.", but in the
referenced link I found no reference to "NTLM password scheme".

Authenticating against a Windows 2000 DC?
I apologize in advance if this is a FAQ, but I couldn't find the FAQ document for this list. I also could not find anything relevant in other Samba documentation sources like http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba.html.
There seems to be plenty of information about using Samba *as* a DC, but I want to know if I can use Samba *with* a Windows 2000 DC. We have two DCs running Windows 2000, a W2K

[Bug 117] New: OpenSSH second-guesses PAM
...on is that it would make it
easier for sombody to write an OpenSSH based deamon that didn't service logins -
like an authenticated proxy service that uses SSH for secure transport to the
firewall. In this case the user almost certainly doesn't exist locally, but PAM
can still be useful for authenticaion. (OK, so this is really oddball, but my
main concern is the first two reasons).

using external authentication to validate samba users
Hi,
Is there any way to use an external program to validate users' passwords? It
would be something like an exec command that would return the authentication
result.
What I'm willing is to be able to authenticate a samba user against a radius
server. Why? Because I get to use tokens (one life time password) against
different realms.
Has anybody an idea?
Thank you

Need PAM to use winbind in Solaris 8?
I'm just curious to see if I'm fighting an uphill battle that isn't really
necessary. Is anyone out there NOT using PAM, running Samba and winbind on
Solaris 8? Maybe my problems are related to my attempt to keep it simple
and not use pam.

Adding users by ignoring unix password file
Hi,
Is it possible to add users/change passwords for users in samba
without it being dependant on anything in the UNIX password file?
For example I want to add a user to my samba password file without
them existing in the UNIX password file.
If anyone has any RTFM info they can kick me in it would be most
appreciated :)
Thanks

Samba server as a WebDAV proxy
Dear all,
As you may know, webdav support is quiet poor on Windows, compared to Samba.
That is why I would like the samba server to act as a proxy to webdav
servers. This would give windows users the ability to browse webdav
pseudo-shares and map them to a drive letter, without buying software like
"WebDrive".
I am setting up a quick and dirty "proof of concept" software,

OSX as file server in AD domain

I just installed an OSX server that I joined to an existing Active Directory
Domain. It works for the Mac side of OSX, but windows clients can't connect.

you can point me to an How-to on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
