Azure AD Connect and the challenge of funding Samba bugs
...m domain name" for our AD realm, status "verified"
- new Azure AD Connect Cloud Provisioning agent, using a "domain admins"
AD account
- with password-hash sync
And it works. :-)
No high CPU usage on the samba DC so far. I tried turning off the samba
DC, and I can still authentiate on office365, meaning the password-hash
successfully synced as well.
The new tool is different in many ways, but the way we see it, it has
many advantages over the older Azure AD Connect. AD Connect required a
mssql server and you could have only one Azure Connect server per AD.
The new one is...

winbindd + wbinfo -> NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
I still can't get winbindd working properly even though I am making some
progress here.
I retrieved the latest CVS version last night and now I can finally use
non-anonymous connections - that works very well. I *did* update both of the
pam modules in /lib and /lib/security
winbindd runs under the account of a regular domain user

Authenticating virsh with username and password
Hi,
I am new to libvirt and still learning, so thanks for any help.
I am using libvirt configured with username and password.
I need to utilize libvirt service "libvirt-guests.service" to shutdown all
my VMs on system shutdown.
Unfortunately it fails due to failed authentication.

Banner doubts
Hi all. I'd like to know if someone knows how to implement a banner to be prompted just after a connection to a server is initialized. It's necessary doing that to warm who is trying to access the server just for security.

netlogon proxy only mode
OK, I know understand that I should be running winbind and as I have
always had problems setting it up, I thought that reading the manpage
would probably be a good idea.
Whilst reading it, I found this:
Even if winbind is not used for nsswitch, it still provides a service to
smbd, ntlm_auth and the pam_winbind.so PAM module, by managing
connections to domain controllers. In this

"Errors" in logfile after upgrading to 1.1.1?
Not sure but I mean I didn't have these in the log file before the upgrade....:
auth(default): passwd(user at domain.no): unknown user
auth(default): prefetch(user at domain.no): passdb didn't return userdb entries, trying the next userdb
Is there some config that is wrong or?
btw, authentiation is working....

Domain with public shares
I have a samba server setup with security = user (NT-domain). I use
openldap for authentiation and that part is working fine. People can log in
and see the files they have permission to.
I need to have some public folders on the samba server that anybody can use
(also non domain users (ie. WinXP Home users that can't join a domain)).
And the printers should be public in the same way.

Can the rsync password be automated?
Is there a way to automate the rsync password or maybe disable? I am
currently running rsync from a Windows command prompt and would like to
run it from a .bat file. I have read through the config man pages but
not sure if my ssh_config file is even being used. I tried
passwordauthentication = no but it still asked for password. I have seen
a option for --password-file= but I believe this does not

newbie help, please?
Hi,
I'm trying to get a Samba (version 3.0.8pre1-0.pre1.3) to play with some
WinXP boxes. I'm using WORKGROUPS, not DOMAIN. The server is running
under Fedora Core 3. And I'm following the troubleshooting chapter in
the O'Reilly book, Chapter 9.
I cannot browse the shares from my WinXP machine. I CAN browse and
access shares okay as a client on the Samba server machine.

Azure AD Connect and replication issues / WORKAROUND
Hi Michal,
Thanks for updating, I can confirm your findings on our site.
Pass-through auth works nicely here as well.
However, when reading the ticket, we understand that Ralph B?hme claims
that password-hashes should also work, after making the sync account
