Login with firstname.lastname instead of loginname
Some of our users use to login as
firstname.lastname
or
firstname.lastname at charite.de
instead of using the "correct"
"flastname" login name.
In order to get this behaviour a long-gone co-worker wrote an
authdaemon.pl, which speaks the courier-authdaemon protocol.
How can I emulate this behaviour with dovecot?
Basically, all I need is a usernamen mapping ala:
Ralf.Hildebrandt at charite.de rhilde
Ralf.Hildebrandt rhilde
for all my users -- I can generate this programatically using awk, but
how c...

Hi I am back thought I should start a new mail... since i lost track of

Sendmail + dovecot-lda + LDAP
...virtual mail accounts.
Why i'm not writing to the LDAP mailing list? I believe, that the reason of my problem is in configuring dovecot-deliver.
What i have:
?- FreeBSD
?- sendmail (Version 8.14.4 with LDAP support installed from ports)?
?- Dovecot LDA + dovecot (as pop3/imap)
?- Cyrus Sasl (authdaemon for authentification)
1. Following http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sendmail i've set up deliver as LDA. Everything worked fine.
2. Following http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/DovecotOpenLdap i've set up Dovecot to work with tha ldap. Now i can authorize through the client or web interface and get...

Postfix+maildrop+deliver?
Hello,
I currently use procmail without the deliver LDA but would like to switch to
using deliver. I also would like to get away from procmail for various
reasons. Otherwise I could use the procmail-patch from
http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2006-July/014656.html
AFAICS.
I don't want to use sieve because it's too limited and can't see a similar
patch like the one for

SASL from remote server
...ted to local services only?
I have a two-server configuration, where my firewall also runs the mail
gateway/filter (Postfix + ASSP). My internal server has Postfix +
Dovecot. Right now I have my internal server configured to use Dovecot
SASL, but the external server is still using the Courier authdaemon
against the LDAP database.

Login with firstname.lastname instead of loginname - WORKING
3 years ago (!) I aksed about this and finally I implemented it today:
>> # NEW
>> passdb {
>> driver = passwd
>> # firstname.lastname at charite.de:password:uid:gid:(gecos):home:(shell):user=realloginname
>> args = /usr/local/etc/dovecot.login_via_email
>> }
>If you're only using it as a passdb, you don't need the uid/gid/home.

Problem connecting to Samba server
...etely unrelated, since I backed up my Samba and OpenLDAP configuration and reinstalled OpenBSD from scratch after breaking some other stuff). But between it working about a week ago, and not working I didn't make any changes to the Samba configuration, I did however add the misc.schema, and the authdaemon.schema files to accomodate Postfix and Courier-IMAP, but a 'slapcat' output compared to the old one looks identical (except for the mail details which are now present). Hope somebody can help me out here, I'm running out of ideas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Lione...

Upgrading to 7.0 - stupid requirements
