Redhat Authconfig errors
Ok, I've got most everything setup, but I'm not able to confirm pam_ldap and nss_ldap are working properly. (Actually given the examples in SBE, they still appear to be returning information from local files rather than the ldap info.) I wanted to go back and check my authconfig and reset the parameters. However now when I do a authconfig I get this: ---- authconfig --enablecache --enableldap --ldapserver=127.0.0.1 --ldapbasedn="dc=sncc-pdc,dc=net" --enableshadow --enablemd5 --enableldapauth --update Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/sbin/aut...

How to configure PAM in Centos 5 64-bit?
I'm new the the PAM world and have CentOS 5 64-bit installed on a system. I want to tweak some of the system-auth module settings, but the top of the file says anything configured in that file will get overwritten, as it is autogenerated by authconfig. I checked out authconfig, and it doesn't seem clear to me how to make the changes I need via authconfig. So, where do I need to look? What utility/file do I touch? Thanks. Scott

Hi all, On a C6 box, when I want to enable LDAP authentication, I issue: # yum -y install nss-pam-ldapd pam_ldap nscd # authconfig --enableldap --enableldapauth --enablemkhomedir \ --ldapserver=ldap://ldap-blabla/ \ --ldapbasedn="blabla" \ --enablecache --disablefingerprint \ --kickstart --update All is working fine, the directory structure is fine and compliant. kickstart and logins.def question
Hello all: Happy New Year to everyone and thank you for all the knowledge this past year. I have a hopefully simple question about kickstart. In the authconfig section I can enable ldap, credential caching, etc.. Using the GUI tool there's an option to create the user home directories on first login. The docs don't show a similar option for authconfig in kickstart. For now I'm using a sed script in the %post section of the kickstart to replac...

how to debug authconfig execution
Hello group, Does anyone have an idea how to debug the execution of authconfig? I try to do many changes with authconfig but no files are modified. It seems authconfig does not have a verbose mode or any other way to know what is going wrong with it? Someone have an idea to find out what is going on with authconfig? Thanks,

authconfig-gtk-6.1.9-1.fc14.i686.rpm missing durring URL Install ?
Hello, This is a rather strange problem. I am using the i386 netinstall CD to boot and do a URL (HTTP) install since my machine only has CD drive and can't boot from USB either. During the install, the installer was looking for package authconfig- gtk-6.1.9-1.fc14.i686.rpm and claims that it's missing. I checked the RPMs under packages, and for sure it wasn't there. But look at the package name. Why is the installer asking for .fc14. package ? authconfig-gtk-6.1.4-6.el6.i686.rpm exists instead, but I don't understand why the...

sssd and authconfig and ldap database lookups
...his is centos 6), sssd.conf is not created. https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Deployment_Guide/about-sssd.conf.html implies that if I want to use sssd I need to create the sssd.conf file first. Any reason why? 2. I also noticed if sssd.conf is not there, authconfig won't create it even if you tell it to --enablesssd. How so? I thought that if you are using sssd, it would have stuff like kerberos and ldap (to pick a couple of examples) configured there. 3. It seems if I want to, say, define ldap_user_search_base I must do it directly in sssd.conf instead...

Puppet not honoring alternate path to namespaceauth.conf
Greetings, I''ve two questions for y''all. 1) I''ve setup an alternate installation path for puppet in a site local directory outside of ''the usual places''. Puppetd seems to insist that /etc/puppet/namespaceauth.conf exists despite setting :authconfig in both puppet and puppetd. As a result part of my installation now includes a symlink to point /etc/puppet at the new installation root /foo/conf/puppet. Any ideas why that would be? 2) Despite having a symlink in place from #1, evertime puppet runs, it unlinks /etc/puppet and recreates this as...
