Multiple GPL violations including Samba in Auralic products
Hello, I recently bought an Auralic Aries Mini streamer. This little streamer can also function as a NAS when mounting a laptop drive or ssd inside, via samba. The box did not come with a media containing source code and did not include a GPL written offer. So I asked Auralic to provide the source code for all GPlv2 and v3 package...

Emphasis or Italic?
What's the difference between: <em>emphasis</em> and <i>italicized</i> and <strong>strong</strong> and <b>bold</b> It seems to subtle for my browsers. The only "difference" I've been able to find is that according to the O'Reilly book <strong> and <emphasis> are semantic tags, while <b> and <i>

Vorbis and MP3 file verification
Does anyone know of programs one can use to verify the integrity of OGG Vorbis and MP3 files? I've found that Ices 0.3 has a penchant for: 1) skipping files it deems improperly encoded, or 2) passing squelchy aural gibberish on to Icecast and then promptly crashing. The only method I've found is trial and error and Google has been of little help. Thanks! Calculating mean for a number of columns
Dear all, I am attempting to perform what should be a relatively simple calculation on a number of data frame columns. I am hoping to find the average on a per-row basis for each of the 50 columns. If on a particular row a 'NA' value is encountered, then this should be ignored and the mean formed on the basis of the other rows. However, I'm finding that the end result for each row

Peep takes virtual events and turns them into unobtrusive sounds like birds chirping, rain falling, crickets doing whatever crickets do, etc. It is mostly used for network and systems monitoring because it is well suited for that task, but I recently added an API to Net::Peep that allows cus...

RC2 worse than RC1 and Beta4
After doing an informal (128k) listening test, I have concluded that I prefer Beta4 over RC2. The 16kHz low-pass on the RC2 encoder makes it sound like FM radio. Both encoders SEEM to have a couple of dB bump at 10kHz. .ogg extension and Theora
>Paul E Wrote [snip] >Windows 2000 (although it's the same for all of them) doesn't read in >any mime-type to correctly identify a file, it just uses the extension. [snip] What if, at least for Windows, someone wrote a simple application which when associated with .ogg files and an .ogg file was opened simply read enough of the ogg stream to identify the type of content and then
