ogg player for mac
Hi Does anyone know of an ogg player for the mac (os 9) that actually works with icecast. I've tried audion, macamp, unsanity echo, and mint with no results whatsoever. They all play ogg files from disk, and all grab an mp3 stream from icecast, but as soon as I try streaming ogg they all fail to regonise it. (except for audion, which for some reason plays the stream as twice the speed?) Thanks Rob --...

Icecast2 Ogg Clients
Hi, <p>I was streaming Ogg Vorbis to a mount point which didn't end .ogg ogg123 played the stream without any problems, but other clients (xmms, Audion) just kept rebuffering and failed to detect that it as an Ogg encoded stream. Surely the client should use the MIME type provided by the server rather than rely on the suffix in a URL ? <p>Is there any attempt to encourage clients to be more standard ? <p>Cheers, nick. --- >8 -...

vorbis players (or lack of) for mac
Perhaps the devel list would be better, but a) i'm not subscribed to it just now and b) I'm lazy (dons flame-retardant clothing)... frankly, i'm rather tired of the lack of free ogg vorbis players for Mac OS; it doesn't look like iTunes is going to support the format anytime soon (and i have some real issues with its interface, too)...so, since I've decided to learn Mac OS

listening to ogg with a Mac
---------- Forwarded message ---------- Subject: Full Mac report <p>Anyway, here's my full report. I'm gonna recommend the Audion 3 for Mac, and just tell people to follow directions from the dv8 website for the PC. Here goes: Went to the diskset and clicked...got a menu...two Mac options...onc called "Legacy Mac OS," the other was for Mac OSX, which I don't have. So I went into the "Legacy" and test...

...s 2000 server. I'm using Winamp with the SAM encoder plugin to stream an Ogg Vorbis stream (-0.55 quality stereo) from a remote machine. I'm having two problems. 1. The latest Winamp works great. Whamb on OSX works also (but no Title/Artist info shows up). But on other players (Zinf and Audion [OS9 and OSX]) it works great for one song. At song change, the player stops and I have to reopen the url again. Do I have to add some kind of fallback for in between songs for these other players?? 2. Icecast keeps shutting down after about an hour. If there are no players connected for a per...

Ogg Vorbis Player(s)
...GG VORBIS format. I understand that several French radio stations (France Inter, France Info etc...) are adopting Ogg Vorbis and I would like very much to try it. I have heard of several players such as Ogg Vorbis decoder plugin for Quicktime 6.2+ under MacOS X 10.2+, Whamb, Unsanity Echo, Audion 3. I am using a Mackintosh G4 Power PC, System OS X (10.2.8). Your help and advice in this matter will be very much appreciated. Yours sincerely, <p>Jacques Delière J.Deliere@verizon.net <p><p><p><p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/arch...

Thanks for the help, I can have people connect that are still on my local network at school. People outside of it always get timed out.. Is there something special I'm not doing (that i should) to give outsiders access ? <p>>From: Moritz Grimm <gtgbr@gmx.net> >Reply-To: icecast@xiph.org >To: icecast@xiph.org >Subject: Re: [icecast] Client Problems >Date: Wed, 30

...h the trouble and picks up her knitting. That's one less listener for the webcaster. My point in this is that Ogg Vorbis needs a long-overdue shot in the arm in terms of marketting. That is, marketting to the people who supply the popular media apps... Apple and iTunes. Microsoft Media Player. Audion. Icecast2 server temporarily down, now back
Hi all: I've been away for the past week and moved house before that. Quite impressively, the icecast2 server I'm running stayed up all that time. It went down at 8 minutes past midnight EDT (04:08 GMT) on Monday 16/07. It looks like someone did the same thing as before - kicked it over by attempting to connect a source to an already existing mountpoint. by all means use the server to

I have also tried the other two players Audion and Unsanity Echo suggested by vorbis.com but they both dont seem to support playing an ogg stream either.
