No comprendo - scaffold producing strange results
...king invoicing application. All was well. Then I added another table to the database. Following that I use script/generate scaffold User I was hoping that this would generated the usual stuff but just for this model. It did. I can see all the views including _form, new, list etc. However, athough I can access list as per normal, when I try to create a new user it complains that there is no _form template. This is odd because I can see it. I have deleted the _form file and rebuilt it - no effect. I have restarted the webserver - no effect. Anyone any idea what is going on? bruce

Pfr tmp files, FreeBSD and Linux
...t is that about 90% of the profile is written to the users home directory but it becomes corrupt with it not being usable again. Again, if the profile points to the FreeBSD server, we have no problems at all. Both servers are mounting home directories via nfs. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Athough FreeBSD and Linux are different, is there really that big of a difference that would cause the above problem? Or am I missing something simple?

Looking for a textbook that is more concise than Applied Linear Statistical Models (2004 version)
...are buried in the examples. If I skip the examples, I would miss some important points. But if I don't skip the examples, it would take me too much time to finish the book (this book is of 1000 pages) However, I feel that the main points in the book can be concisely written in the matrix form. Athough this book has include matrix formulation, but it doesn't use it extensively. For example, the examples are not written with the abstract matrix (I mean just using symbols, such A, to represent the matrix) I'm wondering if there is a well-written book that is more concise than Applied Linea...

syntax of nlme
Hello, How do I specify the formula and random effects without a startup object ? I thought it would be a mixture of nls and lme. after trying very hard, I ask for help on using nlme. Can someone hint me to some examples? I constructed a try using the example from nls: #variables are density, conc and Run #all works fine with nls DNase1 <- subset(DNase, Run == 1 ) fm2DNase1 <- nls(

Winelibs question.....
...ot; from the build. More reading revealed that a "spec file" would be required, primarily to resolve the entrypoint, but also to deal with LoadLibrary, and exports if I were attempting to produce a "runtime linked" library. O.K. so I'm not trying to do the latter. I assume, athough it's not *that* clear to me that the product of the excersise is a straight elf binary that I can run from a prompt. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. [Shocked] Perhaps I am supposed to be linking directly with the ".so" (created from the original winemaker parse/m...

export graph to Word/Excel):

Office 2007 Activation Problem
Hi I'm new to Edubuntu, please be gentle, athough I think it's a great idea to start to wean the family off Microsoft operating systems. To help the transition I have installed Office 2007 using Wine and all went well apart from not being able to activate / register the software. When I try to enter the activation code the box will not let me...

Sound file format and Asterisk 1.8.11-cert1
Hi All; I installed Asterisk 1.8.11-cert1, and it look like the default is ulaw for the sound files. How I can fix this? Athough file beep.gsm is existed under path (/var/lib/asterisk/sounds/en), but when I used the Record function, it gave me the following (so I am sure there is something that can let asterisk accept beep.gsm), what could be? Bug#666135: Multiple "Domain-0", slow libvirt
In our case, this seems to be some kind of bug with xenstored. For example, let's take our servers "vm7" and "vm10" into consideration, which are configured exactly the same, Debian Squeeze vanilla, no backports. "vm7", as stated below, has more Domain-0 entries, but executes virsh commands (f.e. virsh pwd, virsh list etc) faster (under a second) than

tapply on empty data.frames (PR#10644)
Full_Name: Hilmar Berger Version: 2.4.1/2.6.2alpha OS: WinXP Submission from: (NULL) (84.185.128.110) Hi all, If I use tapply on an empty data.frame I get an error. I'm not quite sure if one can actually expect the function to return with a result. However, the error message suggests that this case does not get handled well. This happens both in R-2.4.1 and 2.6.2alpha (version 2008-01-26).

Problems with UNIX file permission
Hello, I need to serve one fileshare to different users in different groups ( I do so ). I gave different users different groups and told samba to make new files owned by user:group, mod 775. But now some users have the need to write in the directory of another group. Is it possible to force user and group per directory and not per share, or is it possible to create links in the filestructure

Word open all DOC files read-only on Samba shares
Hello all, I just switched my old server to a new machine, upgrading the Samba server from 3.0.1 to 3.4.5 (-55.fc12). When Word (Office2003) tries to open a *.DOC file, it takes a very long time (about 10 seconds) then the file is opened Read-Only... If I try to open a *.RTF file it opens very fast, and I can write it... I'm scratching my head for the whole day and what I've

Help with reshape/reShape and indexing
Dear R Helpers, I have trouble applying reShape and reshape although I read the documentation and several posts, so I would very much appreciate your help on the two points below. I have a dataframe df = data.frame(Name=c("a", "a", "a", "b", "b", "c"), X1=c("12", "13", "14", "20", "25",
