Time is Fleeting: CentOS 4 question
...For some reason, time on this server moves forward at a far
more rapid rate.
Right now, all my other systems show Sunday May 8, 3:19 pm. The CentOS
server thinks its Monday May 9, 3:54 pm. I just reset it about four
hours ago to the correct time.
I'm using an inexpensive eMachines T6212 AMD Athon 64 processor and 1 GB
RAM.
Can anyone suggest a reason why this server thinks it's 25 hours in the
future and growing more distant with each minute?
Thanks,
Bill

Help! Zap echo on bridged calls
I've been going nuts lately trying to get rid of an annoying echo
problem that makes my asterisk server unusable when clients try to call me.
Here's the breakdown of the issue - Hoping that someone can throw me a
clue:
My setup is as such:
Single AMD Athon machine with X100P clone card and voip through multiple
providers .
    * Inbound calls through the X100P that do not bridge to voip are fine.
    * Outbound calls that do not bridge with the X100P are fine.
    * PSTN ->*->VOIP calls have so much echo on the called party side

3.3v PCI board - TE410P photo
Hi-
I have posted a photo of the TE410P Digium card on my site,
so that those wishing to purchase a compatible motherboard
can see physically what the PCI slot requirement is:
http://www.evtmedia.com/TE410P.htm
I believe the required slot is a 64-bit, 3.3 Volt PCI, most
commonly found on Xeon-based motherboards. A 64-bit slot is
longer than the TE410P board requires, but the PCI connector

missing package openmotif in i386
I can only find openmotif22 in centos 5 i386. x86_64 has a openmotif. A
mistake I assume?

[Bug 3186] New: Surprisingly large unshared memory usage
...(I'm
running Ubuntu Breezy, which has a 2.6 kernel) had copy-on-write fork semantics.
Is the essentially instantaneous inflation of the second rsync process
happening because of either the -H or the --link-dest, or is it a bug?
[This transfer also accumulates about an hour of CPU time on this Athon 1200MHz
CPU; I assume this is due to the expense of -H, and works out to about 1.5
milliseconds of processing per file, assuming I haven't goofed on the math; this
is about a million instructions (or 21000 non-cached memory fetches) per file.
I'd love it if this could be brought down, but...

Problems with zaptel and HFC-S PCI card
...an rx fifo not enough bytes
to receive! (z1=4069, z2=4062, wanted 8 got 7), probably a buffer
overrun.
Asterisk doesn't even have to be running for this to happen, but it
can be brought to a halt by unloading the zaphfc module. I'm not aware
of any CPU throttling on this system (an AMD Athon running at 1100 MHz).
The OS is Debian etch running Linux kernel 2.6.18 (-5-k7). I've
installed asterisk and asterisk-bristuff 1.2.13~dfsg-2etch2, as well
as zaptel and zaptel-source 1.2.11.dfsg-1 to compile the necessary
modules.
My current configuration is as follows:

MAC address verification limitation
hi there. There are approx. 400-500 users in our
network and we plan to insert all their MAC addresses
into maclist and bind them together with IP address.
My question is whether shorewall is able to process
that much of MAC addresses without slowing the the
network speed performance? thanks for your time.

Samba Very Slow When Using AFS and MS Office (is this a Bug?)
...I am having a problem with Samba that seems to be a bug. I say this
because I read the archives and they described a problem similar to mine
and were told that it was a bug in older version of Samba and the latest
version should have it fixed. I am running what is essentially a RH 7.3 on
a 1.4GHz Athon with 1GB or RAM. I compiled Samba 2.2.5 in /opt/samba-2.2.5
and am using the following smb.conf:
[global]
	workgroup = FLASH1
	interfaces = vmnet1
	bind interfaces only = yes
        log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
[homes]
	guest ok = no
	read only =no

FreeBSD 4.9 losing mbufs!!!
Hello List,
I know 4.9 is ancient history, but unfortunately we have several
thousand sites installed. We are in the process of moving to 6.1 when it
is released.
Right now I have an immediate problem where we are going to install two
system at a
HQ site. Each of the 2 systems will have two gre/vpn/ospf tunnels to a
100 remote sites in the
field. The broadband will be a T3 with failover to
