Can TFTPD run in a chroot jail?
...f hours and am nowhere near solving the problem. I am trying to run a tftp server in a chroot jail. Now perhaps I am being paranoid, but I would like to have it launched from within its own jail even if it supposedly does a chroot itself and runs with a parameterizable user. I downloaded the atftp-server package and tried to set up my own tftpd jail. I copied over the linked libs to the proper place, the /etc/passwd, /etc/groups, /etc/hosts, /etc/nsswitch.conf, /etc/resolv, /etc/services files. I even created the dev/null device and set up syslog to read from the jail/dev/log device. H...

PXELinux over Ris server
Having the same trouble that Mark ( http://www.zytor.com/pipermail/syslinux/2002-March/000244.html) had over a test platform I have here. Having a redhat 7.3 with dhcp V3.0rc12 and atftp (0.6.2) on a local small hub and a W2k Server with RIS installed. If I stop binlsvc on nt server my network boot run ok to pxelinux, but as soon as binlsvc is started, RIS server always respond over my local network (dhcp and dns stopped on nt server) Try to use option vendor-class-identifier &qu...

...p as zero because that relates to "option boot-size" in dhcp and doesn't seem to be the problem I've already fired up wireshark and had a look, and the tftp was the nas, so I'll move it over to the linux box to get the traffic. The ideas I have now to fix is to try setting up atftp to do multicast tftp. "option bootfile-name" only freaks out the rom and adds extra characters at the end. If I have option vendor-class-identifier "PXEClient"; before Vendor-option-space PXE; Option PXE.mtftp-ip 0.0.0.0 It freaks out the rom and it says no offer found. It...

about pxe booting, no boot filename found
hello, I have a problem about pxe booting. I have two isolated machines, one(server) has got dhcp and tftp servers working correctly ( I am pretty confident with this). The other machine (client) using floopy to boot with pxe-request. The problem is, the client cannot get the bootfile("/tftpboot/pxelinux.0"), it always report no boot filename found. I also found the IP address, which

Problem with PXE reboot option
Hello, on may 7th I send the following mail. Can you confirm that it is received and can you comment on the reaction of the manufacturer? In our system (lot of CPCI boards) the atftp server is sometimes so busy that a TFTP request times out. I added the PXE option reboottime to force a quick reboot. Once in a while this fails and the board just doesn't reboot. I can easily reproduce the problem when I rename/delete the pxelinux.cfg directory. In that case the board reboo...

Hi, We are using PXELinux 1.75, ISC DHCP 3.0pl1 and atftp-0.6 to deploy RH 7.3 across a number of Dell Rackmount systems. I would like to set things up so that the RH boot kernel grabs the IP Address, gateway aand DNS address from the first DHCP request with 'ipappend 1', but so far have had no success, Kickstart issue a seconed request after boo...

tftp times out
tftp keeps timing out when I try to transfer files. I intend to use tftp with G4U to clone a standard workstation. I am testing it between two Dell poweredge servers running CentOS 4.3. "chkconfig --list |grep tftp" shows tftp up and running on both boxes. When connected "tftp>status" shows it is talking to the other box "tptp>trace" shows "sent WRQ

EFI & PXE-booting: very slow TFTP performance on a VMWare test setup
...MWare Player 7.1.0 on an Ubuntu 14.10 system. Both virtual systems support PXE booting in UEFI mode. Both systems behave exactly the same. The test-setup is as follows: Master: 2 CPU, 2GB RAM, Network Adapter "Host-only" Centos 7.1 * syslinux-6.03 * isc-dhcpd-V3.0.5-RedHat * atftp-0.7.1 Slaves: 2 CPU, 2GB RAM, Network Adapter "Host-only" Configured to boot from the network only The Master is configured to provide a pxelinux.0 and supporting stuff through tftp. The client boots, gets a DHCP answer, loads pxelinux.0, presents a menu through menu.c32, defaults...

xorriso or genisoimage syntax assistance
I got this figured out much faster than I thought I would. Thanks to all of your help, Peter, Mattias, Thomas and Helmut. And Thomas, that 8 partition live OS sounds right up my alley, and I will definitely check it out. The second partition is working well with `parted' and `fdisk', so I am quite pleased. Below is, again, "what I came up with". I tried to integrate each of your
